By combining culture and community empowerment in this year's celebrations of the 126th Philippine Independence Day, SM City Grand Central, SM Center Sangandaan, and SM City Valenzuela brought the spirit of independence to life in Northern Metro Manila.
The day's activities began with solemn flag-raising ceremonies at SM City Grand Central and SM Center Sangandaan, attended by hundreds of mall personnel, tenants, and community members. Cultural presentations honoring Filipino history took place after the festivities. Folk dances like Sayaw sa Bangko and Binasuan attracted fervent audiences at SM City Grand Central. Students and artists performed a stirring Sabayang Bigkas at SM Center Sangandaan, echoing the themes of bravery and patriotism.

The Independence Day program at SM City Grand Central did more than simply honor the past; it helped job seekers go forward. One of the event's main attractions, the Kalayaan Job Fair, brought together 51 businesses with 3,563 job opportunities both domestically and abroad. The event embodied the actual essence of Kalayaan, which is empowerment through opportunity, as the mall was crowded with applicants waiting in line with their resumes.

With its own schedule of traditional performances and displays with a Filipino theme, SM City Valenzuela, meantime, mirrored the same patriotic spirit. On June 27, its celebration will come to a close with a career fair that focuses on employment abroad, providing job seekers with yet another way to achieve a better future.
