Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau TCEB Press Conference

The Press Conference was held at Makati Diamond Residences on December 9, 2015 at 10AM.

With Jaruwan Suwanassat, Exhibitions and Events Director Together with Dr. Mina Gabor former President of CITEM (Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions). former Secretary of Department of Tourism and President of International School of Sustainable Tourism.

Question and answer portion from the guests

Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), a government agency operating under supervision of the Prime Minister responsible for the promotion and development of Thailand M.I.C.E (meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions) industry, is organizing for the 4th year the THAILAND – PHILIPPINE ROADSHOW 2015 in Manila, Philippines which aims to further strengthen the bilateral collaboration and trade promotion between the two countries through MICE.

The discussion runs about how to boost Thailand’s strategic cooperation for the Philippine market, TCEB had launched the “Extra Exhibitions: Expand Business Opportunities in the ASEAN” promotion campaign.

Thailand Bolsters Exhibition Ties with the Philippines.
Extra Benefits will be offered through ‘Thailand Extra Exhibition’

With the Philippines considered as one of the priority countries for Thailand for trade, the Thailand government ups its marketing efforts and bolsters its exhibition platform as a gateway to do business with the ASEAN market.

The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) takes the lead on behalf of its government in the development and success of Thailand's MICE sector with the launch of
"Extra Exhibitions: Expand Business Opportunities in ASEAN" on Dec. 9 and 10,  at the Makati Diamond Residences Hotel in Ayala Center, Makati City.

TCEB has chosen Manila to be the venue of the international launch of the promotional campaign which will serve as a business matching platform for Thai-registered public exhibition organizers (PEO) engaged in trade, energy, food and agriculture, health and wellness, and automotive and logistics to present and promote their trade shows with Philippine trade associations.

Bilateral trade between the two countries has reached more than $5 billion annually in recent years, with Thailand as the Philippines’ eighth largest trading partner in 2014.  On the other hand, the Philippines is Thailand’s 6th largest trading partner in the ASEAN and the 18th biggest in the world.

Last year, visiting Thailand Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha cited that bilateral trade between the two countries grew at 10 percent and urged the two countries to ‘’work even more closely together to enhancing the ‘Partnership for Prosperity’ between Thailand and the Philippines and strengthening the ASEAN community at large.”

In that same visit, President Aquino noted that San Miguel Corp., Liwayway Food Industries Co. Ltd., Goldilocks, and Monde Nissin “have established their presence” in Thailand, while Thai enterprises have “likewise opened doors of opportunity” for Filipinos.

At least eight PEOs will participate in the event which hopes to generate awareness of TCEB and promote exhibitions and extra exhibitions in Thailand, as well as, expand business opportunities in ASEAN with industry professionals.

Thailand Extra Exhibition
Expand Your Business Opportunities in ASEAN

An exhibition in Thailand becomes a high-potential marketplace offering extra benefits and connections, all while producing productive outcomes. Thailand helps build strong connections across the region and the world, giving access to these extra benefits.

Seamlessly linking ASEAN through its upgraded infrastructure development plan, Thailand is taking its place as a regional connectivity capital, allowing all exhibitions to enjoy extra benefits. The infrastructure development and expansion projects will facilitate better distribution of resources, goods and information, both within Thailand, in the region, and to world markets.

The Kingdom’s connections and collaboration with other countries have further improved and trade has expanded, while its network of free trade agreements has further opened up access to the market both within and outside the region. These have made the country a regional trade center and a production and export powerhouse for various industries, the most notable of which include the automotive, energy, and agro-industries.

Through exhibitions, Thailand enhances connections to create new milestones, and strong business links alongside integration with its industry professionals and alliances will empower this connection. Exhibitions in Thailand enjoy the real power of connections - and even one connection can build bridges to unlimited opportunities.

Ultimate Central Marketplace
Expand Connection for Extra Business Benefits

Exhibitions in Thailand offer easy access to the region’s dynamic marketplace, including the Kingdom’s own booming domestic economy and those of neighboring countries. Thailand today plays a major role in promoting regional cooperation and integration. Exhibitions in Thailand benefit from a new level of sophistication and a wide spectrum of services – benefiting both organizers and participants alike.
  • ASEAN Connectivity Capital - The country is fast becoming the ASEAN Capital of Connectivity, thanks to its infrastructure development plan resulting in efficient transportation links throughout the region. Such seamless connectivity gives exhibitions in Thailand extra benefits and better connections.
  • Asia’s Crossroad - Thailand is primed to take center stage by emerging at Asia’s crossroads, with its diverse destinations right at the heart of the fast-growing ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) and the Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam (CLMV) area, a newly emerging market offering great business potential.
  • World’s Destination - Thailand is a world-recognized business events paradise, thanks to its abundance of diverse, cutting-edge exhibition venues, stunning choice of hotels and accommodation across the country, and upgraded telecommunication infrastructure.

Trade Powerhouse
Expanded Liberalisation for Extra Trade Empowerment.

Exhibitions in Thailand are the springboard to link businesses to the marketplaces of ASEAN, Asia, and the world. Thailand places a great emphasis on expanding regional collaboration and building stronger regional networks while developing and strengthening the exhibitions industry, both in the Kingdom and in other ASEAN+6 member countries. Thailand will be a platform for business empowerment by
  • ASEAN MICE Collaboration - The ASEAN MICE Collaboration initiative will link up exhibitions in Thailand with the integrated trading market of the AEC, further connecting them to the global supply chain.
  • Asia’s Trade Powerhouse - Thailand’s connections and collaboration with other countries will further improve and expand trade promotion. Thailand’s allure stems from its role as a regional powerhouse of production and export. Thailand’s six free trade agreements (FTAs) with Australia, China, India, New Zealand and the 10 member countries of ASEAN have made the country an even more attractive marketplace for exhibitions.
  • World’s Spotlight Industry -  The country’s industrial production has grown and diversified rapidly both in long-established and newly emerging industry. Exports of electronics, automotive and auto parts, sectors in which foreigners are heavily invested, have increased significantly. Not only have FTAs drastically expanded duty-free access to 2.87 billion people, key industries have been liberalized, logistics streamlined and regulations on foreign investments further liberalized.

The Power of Connection
Expanded Collaboration for Extra Solution and Profitable Diversity.

Proprietary technology
Mojo uses the new Artix-7 FPGA chipset from Silicon Valley’s Xilinx, making Mojo the most advanced DAC of its type on the planet! Unlike other audio products, that process digital files using crude off-the-shelf chips from Asia, Chord uses an FPGA — a programmable circuit that enables its skilled engineers to directly implement its own digital audio expertise, making Mojo unique in the marketplace.

BIOGESIC BANIG-BAYAN Remembering our OFW Families

December 5, 2015, at Auxiliary, Unilab Corporate Center held the Biogesic Banig Bayan Project Blogger's Day!

How does an OFW life look like, we always think and say na "Ay abroad yan" but in truth, it is not glamorous. Because people think that since they work in a foreign country, they're making loads of money and are living the life, they don't talk about the poor living conditions, bone-breaking work, the loneliness. OFW's don't want their families to worry.

They've sacrificed a lot to work abroad. So they're constantly paranoid that they'll lose their job and everything will fall apart. They over-perform and over-deliver. Even when very ill, they don't miss a workday. The event takes extra jobs during weekends.

An OFW's life, away form family and old friends, is a life of isolation. It doesn't matter how many new friends they make.

They wish for the familiarity of home, where there are people who've known them their entire lives. They're constantly talking to family over YM chat, Viber, Kakao Talk, Wechat and Skype, pero iba parin ang magkakasama. Can you just imagine 5-8 years ago when the only means of communication is via mail, email and of course by calling their families? But now with the help of technology communication is now much better especially by texting.

Even the most strongest OFW need the comforting from homesickness. Now kahit hindi mo sila kasama, ang ingat at pagkalinga mo'y ipakita't ipadama sa kanila. They can't be home, so send home to them.

We’ve come across many OFW stories one way or another. Still, among us are those who have romantic notions of the kind of lives they have abroad. People could not see past the pasalubongs and the happy photos OFWs post online, which is worrisome because, in reality, not all OFWs live the good life abroad. But they would not talk about it. Some would not share their everyday situations abroad and would rarely admit that they get lonely.

Their reason is understandable. They naturally display strength because most of the time, they are all their families have. They expect themselves to be the strong-willed ones because they have to in order to provide their family with the best life. Their hopes and dreams are for those they left behind. They are, in fact, the prime epitome of a caregiver.

But even carers need caring. And honestly, they are the ones who need it most.

What we know is this: The reason why Skype and Messenger are one of the most used apps by OFWs is that these somehow make them feel like they never left. It is their temporary remedy for longing and missing out. Still, it falls short in making them feel the care and love from home–– especially at a time like Christmas.

And we thought, if Home would make their Christmas, yet they could not come home for it, let us send home to them. So in the spirit of giving, Biogesic wanted to move families to care for their ultimate providers, the givers of care who are thousands of kilometers away. And we did this through the very first Biogesic Banig-bayan program.

Inspired by the balik-bayan box, Biogesic created a special package for families here to carry items they would want to send. It could hold anything from items they miss from home to symbols of life events OFWs would wish they were a part of––truly pieces of home that would make their Christmas whole.

The Banig-bayan carries the message that Ingat and care would still be felt even if they are apart. Biogesic inspired families to make their OFWs feel they are loved, remembered, and missed. And by the deep expressions of gratitude, heart-tugging stories, and tears of joy, the Banig-bayans would make all the difference for their Christmas to be truly merry and immensely felt.

For his visit this year, Matthias will be showcasing new Don Papa 10 cocktail libations, further amplifying the Don Papa experience. He will be featured in several events for the week, which includes a cocktail laboratory masterclass and guest bartending shift in ABV, a powerhouse mixology guest bartending shift in Rocket Room with Don of Cocktails, Davide Boncimino, and a Don Papa masterclass in Boracay.

“When I won the finals, I was shocked and needed a few minutes to process what’s happening. The first thought that came to mind was ‘I will go back to the Philippines to visit my lola (grandmother)” ~Said Davide
Don Papa Rum is a premium aged small batch rum that has been gaining a significant following since its successful launch in the Philippines in July 2012. Introduce you to the latest news on Don Papa Rum, the Bleeding Heart Rum Company’s (BHRC) flagship spirit. Distilled from the finest sugar cane from the island of Negros Occidental, Philippines, known locally as Sugarlandia, Don Papa has two products, its flagship spirit, the 7 year old, and its limited-edition super premium 10 year old.

Bleeding Heart Rum Company:
The Bleeding Heart Rum Company is the trading arm of Chat Noir Co. Inc, based in Manila, Philippines and the company is responsible for the production and marketing of Don Papa Rum, a small batch rum from the island of Negros Occidental, Philippines.

THE FLIGHT OF THE DON

Manila (December 2015) --- Since its launch in 2012, Don Papa has launched to several countries worldwide and is now available in sixteen countries in Europe and Asia, continuing to grow in leaps and bounds.

Its flagship spirit, the Don Papa 7 year old, is aged in American oak barrels, giving it a light amber color. It is light and fruity on the nose, smooth and delicate in the mouth with a long textured finish, offering flavors of vanilla, honey, and candied fruits.
Bleeding Heart Rum Company’s latest offering, the Don Papa 10 year old, showcases the Blender’s art to perfection.  A careful, artisanal process by dedicated master craftsmen steeped in the Filipino rum-making tradition. The rum is aged for ten, long years in re-charred American oak barrels, giving it a dark amber color with hints of oak and vanilla. Its higher cask strength gives Don Papa 10 year old a slightly higher ABV of 43%.

Packaged in a magnificent bottle with eye-catching design and a real cork stopper, Don Papa puts other rums to shame and sets a new standard in Philippine luxury.
Matias and Mr. Andrew Garcia (Managing Director) and Monica Garcia The makers of Don Papa

Don Papa Rum was introduced to the international market through France back in 2013. The wide reception from both consumers and trade has garnered Don Papa Rum a huge following in Europe. The company has continued its expansion in 2014, opening several more markets with Germany, UK, Czech Republiq, Italy, and Belgium creating more buzz and demand in the region.
One of the most notable activities held in Europe this year is Don Papa’s first-ever cocktail competition, a nationwide search for the ultimate Don of Cocktails. The preliminaries of the competition was held in five regions across the United Kingdom, with ten finalists chosen to compete against each other for the title and the chance to visit the Philippines for several guest bartending appearance in local bars around the Metro.
Cristhel Elizabeth Molina, Brand Manager, Bleeding Heart Rum Co.

The finalists were instructed to create a Don Papa cocktail serve drawing their inspiration from the label design of Don Papa Rum as well as the spices, fruits, and bitters of the Philippines. The finals of the cocktail competition, aptly named ItsaDonDeal was held in London, United Kingdom last July 11, 2015 and was judged by Don Papa Rum’s International Brand Ambassador, Matthias Cadeac D’Arbaud and acclaimed drinks and travel writer, Dan Miles.
The overall champion, and now Don of Cocktails, is the 26 year-old Half Italian-Half Filipino bartender, Davide Boncimino. Davide’s winning cocktail is called “Fix in the Mind”, which is reminiscent of his childhood experiences during his visits to the Philippines. This winning cocktail makes use of home-made monkey nuts syrup blended with rice juice, coconut milk, lime, and crème de banana, producing an exciting and intoxicating Don Papa serve.

THE DON’S DARKER, BOLDER, OLDER BROTHER

Aficionados of the finest rums in the world will delight in Don Papa ten-year old, a special, limited-edition, aged rum distilled on the island of Negros, Philippines. The perfect libation for day’s end, Don Papa ten-year old exhilarates with its deep, rich and concentrated taste.

This limited edition offering from the Manila based rum maker, Bleeding Heart Rum Company is being released again in the Philippines as a seasonal product available for the holidays. The Don Papa ten-year old showcases the Blender’s art to perfection, a careful, artisanal process by dedicated master craftsmen steeped in the Filipino rum-making tradition. Rum made from 100 percent Negros sugarcane grown from the rich soils of this southern island is column distilled, painstakingly selected from some of the richest, sweetest molasses in the world to produce the finest flavours. The rum is then aged for ten, long years in re-charred American oak barrels, giving notes of oak and vanilla to the ageing spirit. The highly precise rum-making process chooses only the best ten-year old casks for blending to produce Don Papa ten-year old.

Don Papa ten-year old’s rich and potent character draws from the Philippines’ warm, humid climate, which yields one of the highest angel’s share in the world, the amount that evaporates out of the barrel during ageing. Traditional Filipino rum makers do not refill these casks, producing an extremely dark, intense, concentrated rum. In addition to the judicious selection of only the very best ten year old casks, our master blender also judged that Don Papa ten year old would be better  at a slightly higher than usual alcohol-by-volume strength of 43 percent.

Dark amber in colour, Don Papa ten-year old is deep, rich and powerful on the nose, with a delicate tingle in the mouth, exuding bold flavours of dried fruits and cacao, with just a hint of oak. It can be appreciated straight, or with just a hint of ice on a particularly warm night.

WHAT’S NEW WITH DON PAPA 10

Since its Manila launch in December 2014, the Don Papa 10 has gained a wide following for its rich, smooth taste. Its bespoke, impactful packaging has also won several awards locally and internationally, including the Adobo Design awards for Packaging, Double Gold Medal for Packaging Design at the 2015 San Francisco International Spirits Competition, and First Place for Spirits Category at the 2015 Dieline Awards.
The Don’s darker, bolder, older brother has now reached the European shores, starting with France towards the start of 2015. Its wide reception in the French market has made fanatics of Don Papa Rum something to look forward to in their respective countries, with further demand of Don Papa 10. To date, the 10 y.o has been launched in several European countries, with different and exciting interpretations of its character. It is now available in France, Belgium, United Kingdom, and Germany.
