Trusted partner for lifestyle products 

Over the years, the increasing trust of Filipinos also meant an increase in demand to finance more and more commodities and high-ticket items for its customers. What was initially just four commodities—smartphones, televisions and computers and laptops—grew and diversified to more than 80 types of commodities now, the widest selection for any consumer finance company in the country. Some additional commodities include tablets, e-bikes, motorcycle necessities, musical instruments, furniture, farming equipment and medical needs, among others. 


Top-selling commodities over the years 

In the past years, the commodity with the most units sold by HCPH is mobile phones, with over 12 million units sold. In 2023 alone, the company facilitated installment financing of 12.5 million units of mobile phones worth P30 billion, with iPhone being the top brand sold, accounting for P6B worth in overall sales. 


In addition to mobile phones, HCPH has provided financing for three other popular goods over the years: air conditioners (500k units sold), computers and laptops (900k units sold), and televisions (1.2 million units sold). 

The company's 0% interest offers on a wide range of products are the driving force behind these astounding numbers. For example, Home Credit's Summer Campaign, which offers 0% interest on cooling appliances and other home necessities, has been helping Filipinos endure the intense heat. Since mid-March, the company has sold over a thousand air conditioners every day.  


New way for Filipinos to shop 

Filipino customers' shopping behavior have dramatically changed over the years with online shopping becoming a preferred way to get information and buy products. According to a study conducted by Agile Data Solutions Inc., Filipinos’ consumer behavior prefers in-store shopping over online one, with 77 percent of Filipinos still prefer in-store shopping for unknown products.  The recent pandemic, however, has also opened them to the world of online shopping deals, where customers utilize online shopping platforms to do price research and get deals, and do physical shopping for sensory appeal and visceral experience.

Spring is for new beginnings: See the beauty of new discoveries as nature blooms in Japan

In Japan, springtime is synonymous with Sakura or Cherry Blossoms. People from all over the world travel to famous locations to see these beautiful trees bloom for a few weeks each year. But there's so much more to Japan's flowers than cherry blossoms! From the first plum blossoms in March to the tulip fields in May, there is a flower for every occasion and a unique location to enjoy it.


Tonami Tulip Park
The Toyama Prefecture is home to Tonami Tulip Park. Every year from the last week of April to the beginning of May, the town of Tonami is awash with color as millions of tulips bloom. Tulip is the official flower of Toyama Prefecture and the vast fields of flowers are an incredible place to stop and take an Instagram story. The Valley of Flowers and the observation deck are particular favorite spots for pictures.

To get to the area from Tokyo, take the Hokuriku Shinkansen to Shin-Takaoka. From there, you can take a local train. The easiest way to do it with a JR pass is to take the JR Johana Line to Tonami Station and then proceed to the Tulip Park on foot. The walk should take about 15 minutes. There are also taxis and shuttles available for a price. 




Nishiyama Park
While the park has beautiful cherry blossom trees, there is so much more to explore in Nishiyama Park. In the late-spring, Azaleas are in bloom which means the park is blanketed in pinks and reds. There is also a zoo where you can go and see red pandas!

Nishiyama park is fairly accessible to motorists. It’s right next to a roadside station. It is also about a 15-minute walk from Sabae JR station.




Suigo Itako Iris Festival
At the end of spring, the irises come out. Japanese irises are unique and beautiful flowers that bloom right before Summer. Every year there is a festival celebrating them. Hundreds of thousands of people flock to Itako, Ibaraki for flowers and fun! There is music, dancers, and many other cultural shows to celebrate the end of spring and the start of summer. 

Itako Station is on the JR Kashima Line, which runs between Kashima-Jingu Station and Sawara Station. The trip should take about 40 minutes from Narita.

Chichibu Hitsujiyama Park 
Some parts of the world really are all sunshine and rainbows! With fields blanketed in shades of pink, shibazakura start their bloom in early May, and are laid out to form intricate patterns, composing the perfect swan song to Spring. The park also has patches of plums and tulips, with vendors selling souvenirs to take home. 

The best way to get there is through the hour and a half train ride from Ikebukuro to Seibu Chichibu station. From the station, the park is a 20-minute walk away.


Kawachi Fujien Wisteria Garden
If you are looking for a magical place to take pictures and videos, venture through the enchanting Wisteria tunnels in Fukuoka! These soft-purple and white flowers bloom when April ends, the fields are full of them. With blooms everywhere surrounding the ethereal wisteria dome, The Wisteria Garden is truly a sight to behold.

The garden is a 55-minute walk from Yahata Station, or through taxi as an alternative. Kawachi Fujien is especially popular with tourists during Golden Week, so be sure to plan accordingly!

Spring has Sprung in Japan and all over the country there are flowers sprouting out of the ground and the world is coming out of its hibernation. There is a certain magic to this time of year when the whole world is awash with vibrant colors and tantalizing scents. While Cherry Blossoms are still a big draw, there are so many more flowers to check out!

Jollibee Group Awarded Global Good Governance Nod for Social Development Initiatives

The Jollibee Group was recently awarded the "3G Championship Award for Community Development and Philanthropy 2024" at the 9th Global Good Governance Awards, or 3G Awards, held in Taguig City. 

Cambridge International Finance Advisory (Cambridge IFA), a global financial services intelligence firm, presented the award to Jollibee Group for spearheading programs that have positively impacted the community through its social development arm, Jollibee Group Foundation (JGF). The award also recognized Jollibee Group's efforts to improve their business practices and contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

3G AWARDEE 2024.  On behalf of Jollibee Group and JGF, Jollibee Group Chief Business Officer Joseph Tanbuntiong highlighted in his acceptance speech during the Global Good Governance Awards the company’s goal to help shape various communities through sustainable business practices.


JGF promotes improved food access through its Farmer Entrepreneurship Program, as well as education programs such as the Busog Lusog Talino Feeding Program and the Access, Curriculum, and Employability (ACE) Scholarship Program. The Foundation also leads disaster response efforts through its FoodAID program, collaborating with partner organizations and national government agencies in the Philippines and other countries.

Jollibee Group and JGF also recently collaborated with the Department of Trade and Industry to hold a learning session in which their leaders shared business development and management knowledge with micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises. 

Furthermore, Jollibee Group and JGF strengthened their environmental stewardship efforts by incorporating mangrove protection and reforestation into their CSR programs. They recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources to enhance collaboration on these initiatives. 

The 3G Awards are an annual program that recognizes good governance, transparency, and social responsibility. Hundreds of people and organizations from various countries attended, representing government and politics, the corporate sector, the social sector, and philanthropy. This is the ninth year of the 3G Awards, which have been held in various parts of the world and were held in Manila for the first time.
