Barbie Almalbis celebrates 25th anniversary with the release of Tower Sessions Live album and a ‘reunion’ concert

“It’s always been a dream of mine to record our songs live, because we’re always rearranging songs as a band, and I think there’s something special that gets captured when the we play live together. My producers and collaborators did such a great job of making you feel like you’re at the gig. You can feel the power of the kick drum and the bass, and then have guitars blasting in your ear — in a pleasant way, of course.” ~Barbie Almalbis, Filipino singer-songwriter

With the official release of her Tower Sessions Live album under Sony Music Entertainment and a reunion concert with her iconic bands Hungry Young Poets and Barbie's Cradle, Filipino singer-songwriter Barbie Almalbis marks a significant musical milestone.

As a woman who successfully navigated the realm of Pinoy rock with emotionally resonant songwriting and artistic independence, both celebrations commemorate her 25th anniversary in the local music scene.

Presenting a new arrangement of her old and new songs, Barbie Almalbis’ Greatest Hits live album was produced by Eric and Carlo Perlas of Tower of Doom, recorded by Kyle Cayton, and mixed/mastered by Simon Durias. It will also feature career-defining hits such as “Firewoman,” “Torpe,” “Tabing Ilog,” “The Dance,” “Goodnight,” and “Just A Smile,” along with fairly new tracks: “Days Are Long,” “Silaw,” “Tigre,” and “Kumpas,” the album’s carrier single.

Aside from the release of Tower Sessions Live on digital platforms, Barbie Almalbis is set to headline her 25th Anniversary concert at 123 Block, Mandala Park on March 11 (Saturday), from 2pm onwards. Celebrating the impact of her music as a guide to many people’s journey in life, the show will reunite her with former bandmates in Hungry Young Poets and Barbie’s Cradle.

Aptly titled Firewoman:25 Years of Barbie Almalbis, the mini-music fest will also feature sets by some of the country’s finest acts, including Sandwich, Gab Alipe of Urbandub, Clara Benin, I Belong To The Zoo, Kai del Rio, and Bird.
Reflecting on her career as an artist, Almalbis expressed gratitude to her fans who have been supportive of her endeavors through the years. “I didn’t have so many plans growing up, but always just dreamt of playing music. I’m so grateful that I get to do this and share the experience with others too. I’m always touched by the support of my fans and friends, and really humbled and encouraged by their words and stories about how these songs have also become part of their journey.”
Barbie Almalbis’ Tower Sessions Live is now available on all digital platforms worldwide under Sony Music Entertainment.
Tickets to her upcoming concert, Firewoman:25 Years of Barbie Almalbis are available for purchase via TicketMelon. The event is presented by GNN Entertainment Productions, in partnership with Sony Music Entertainment, Backspacer Records, JB Music, Nova Wellness Store, D&D,  Smirnoff Mule, and 123 Block.

“YGC has long prioritized education as one of our contributions to nation building. It is very timely that our Mapua schools are launching this very innovative and global initiative as we celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of our past Chairman, Ambassador Alfonso T. Yuchengco, who had always advocated for making quality education more affordable for Filipinos and had forged many successful partnerships with industry leaders from around the world." ~Lorenzo V. Emirates opens a humanitarian airbridge to get emergency aid to Turkey-Syria earthquake victims

"We stand with the Turkish and Syrian people and are working with experts like the International Humanitarian City to help provide urgent relief to those affected and displaced by the earthquakes, as well as support the complex recovery efforts on the ground. Emirates has extensive experience in supporting humanitarian relief efforts, and through its three daily flights to Istanbul will offer regular and consistent widebody capacity for relief items and medical supplies. Emirates also supports the UAE’s ongoing humanitarian efforts to support Turkey and Syria, and Dubai’s unique position as the world’s largest international aid logistics hub means that we can efficiently reach disaster stricken areas and the most vulnerable people as quickly as possible." ~HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Emirates’ Chairman and Chief Executive
Emirates launches humanitarian airbridge to transport emergency aid to victims of the Turkey-Syria earthquake

  • In coordination with International Humanitarian City (IHC), flights are planned to carry around 100 tonnes of urgent relief items like blankets, tents, medical supplies and other humanitarian goods
  • Emergency aid on flights from Dubai to Istanbul will make their way to earthquake stricken sites in southern Turkey and hard-hit cities in Syria

Emirates is establishing an airbridge with the International Humanitarian City (IHC) in response to the devastating earthquakes that occurred in Turkey and Syria. This will allow Emirates to support on-the-ground aid efforts and search-and-rescue efforts in both countries by transporting urgent supplies, medical supplies, and equipment. The World Health Organization (WHO) and World Food Programme (WFP) relief cargo of medical kits and shelter items, coordinated by the IHC in Dubai, will follow today's EK 121 and EK 117 shipments of high thermal blankets and family tents from UNHCR.
More blankets, tents, shelter kits, flash lights, water distribution ramps, trauma and emergency health kits, and flash lights will be transported on Emirates in the coming days.
Over the next two weeks, Emirates SkyCargo intends to dedicate cargo space on its daily flights to Istanbul for approximately 100 tons of humanitarian aid. Local organizations will then deliver the critical supplies for an emergency carried by Emirates to affected areas in northern Syria and southern Turkey, assisting on-the-ground responders and providing much-needed assistance to the hundreds of thousands of people affected by the earthquakes.

Emirates launches humanitarian airbridge to transport emergency aid to victims of the Turkey-Syria earthquake

“The IHC remains committed to providing the people affected by the earthquakes with the humanitarian support and resources they need. We are taking urgent action by facilitating airlifts of vital medical supplies, shelter items and other relief goods from the UNHCR, World Health Organization (WHO) and World Food Programme (WFP) to address the pressing demand for aid in the affected regions.” ~His Excellency Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for the Supervision of IHC

Emirates' long-standing partnership with the International Humanitarian Committee (IHC) enables the airline to swiftly and effectively lead numerous relief missions, delivering humanitarian aid to communities affected by natural disasters, medical emergencies, global outbreaks, and other crises.
In 2020, following the explosions at the Port of Beirut, the airline helped with relief efforts in Lebanon. Emirates built a humanitarian airbridge in 2021 between Dubai and India to help India contain the COVID-19 outbreak and transport urgent medical supplies and aid. In order to transport essential supplies and equipment directly to five flood-ravaged Pakistani cities last year, the airline offered cargo capacity to organizations working with the IHC.
Together with the Airbus Foundation, Emirates has also supported humanitarian flights over the years. Since 2013, Emirates A380 ferry flights have brought more than 120 tons of food and essential emergency supplies to those in need.

If you're anything like us, you've tried a lot of different things before finding the best skincare products. You've also reduced it to the essentials, forcing you to consider whether all those steps and products are really necessary for your skin.

Brands like iWhite Korea have developed a new line of products to hopefully alleviate your skincare woes by elevating one of the most essential components in any skincare routine. Because it is laborious and, frankly, extremely costly,

Your toner.

After you have cleaned your face, the job of a toner is to hydrate and restore the skin's pH balance. It can assist in addressing your skin's issues and preparing your skin to absorb more of your other products' benefits.

Natatanging Nilalang: Through Happy Walk, SM Cares and DSAPI honor Down syndrome individuals

“Happy Walk for Down Syndrome is all about bringing those with the condition and their families together. More importantly, the goal of the event is to give them a platform for their voices to be heard, so that the everyone can know more about them, about the challenges that they encounter every day, and what all of us can do to make life better for them.” ~Engr. Bien C. Mateo, SM Supermalls Senior Vice President and SM Cares Program Director for Disability Affairs

"Natatanging Nilalang," a song by Ronnie Lee that is dedicated to people who have Down syndrome, emphasizes all of the characteristics that make these people special. Lee's song is a message of empowerment for those with Down syndrome and their loved ones. It was written with affection for those with the condition because he has a nephew who has it.

One of the causes that the Down Syndrome Association of the Philippines, Inc. (DSAPI) has worked for is to give people with Down syndrome and their families more power. The Happy Walk for Down Syndrome, which is organized in conjunction with SM Cares, is one initiative that the organization has actively implemented since its inception in 1991.

The Happy Walk for Down Syndrome is an annual event that brings people with Down syndrome and their loved ones together for a day of family-friendly entertainment and fun. It is held every February as part of National Down Syndrome Consciousness Month to raise awareness of the condition and gain a better understanding of those who live with it.

DSAPI and SM Cares will hold a physical version of the long-running event on February 26 at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall in Pasay City, following a three-year hiatus. The Happy Walk Parade and the ShowDOWN segment, in which individuals with Down syndrome can showcase their talents, are among the activities that attendees of this year's event can anticipate. Additionally, they can anticipate games and amusing activities at booths inside the venue.

Interested participants may register through DSAPI’s official Facebook page ( or register onsite on the day of the event by visiting the SM Employees Booth at the Mall of Asia Music Hall from 7:30AM.

Brother Philippines and Luneta park photographers capture “Memories for Life”

“Everyone has hundreds of photos in their camera phone. However, a printed photo can turn those memories into a tangible memento that can be felt and held. We are proud to partner with veteran street photographers and provide them with the latest tools to capture those moments in vivid, living color. For over two decades in the country, our goal has been to demonstrate our motto through providing customers with affordable high-quality products that can help them in every aspect of their life—from being more productive at work, to preserving everyday moments and special celebrations.” ~Shinichi Tanaka, Manager of the Product Management Group of Brother Philippines

Brother Philippines 23rd Anniversary celebrating by doing something that Luneta Park’s veteran photographers will never forget. As part of this milestone celebration, they also have a surprise for their most loyal customers courtesy of the Brother Customer Plus Loyalty Program.

Brother Philippines worked with Luneta Park's Street photographers to boost business and provide park visitors with printed keepsakes they can cherish for a lifetime.

The event known as "Memories for Life" took place on February 5, 2023. Brother Philippines set up printing stations at the Japanese Garden and Mabini Hall. Photographers printed their images with the help of skilled graphic artists and high-quality printers.

At nine in the morning, Product Management Group Manager of Brother Philippines Shinichi Tanaka gave the event's opening speech.

Additionally, Brother Philippines made the announcement that it would be strengthening its exclusive loyalty program, Customer Plus. It was launched in 2019 and provides additional after-sales benefits to customers, such as quick access to Brother's Customer Service Team, the iShop, an exclusive in-app shopping feature, and monthly raffle activities. More benefits and surprises will soon be available through the program. Brother Philippines also presented a special gift to its devoted Customer Plus members during the Memories for Life campaign.

The company's celebration of its twenty-third anniversary in the Philippines and its motto of "#BeingAtYourSide" include the "Memories for Life" campaign.

This motto is reflected in Luneta Park's Memories for Life activity, which helps photographers make a living while providing valuable photo souvenirs to park visitors.
