Me and my family had been riding ferries before going to my father's province to Ozamiz City and back in Manila. Back then there are different huge ferries, but now a lot prefer to travel via air (plane) due to limited time of travel and or vacation. However, nowadays one of the simplest ways as well to travel via sea is via Ferries/Vessel and or what we call RoRo.

I had never tried riding a RoRo yet ever before, that's why i got excited to step foot on the newest addition to the Starlite fleet.

M/V Starlite Saturn has a service speed of 13.5 knots or nautical miles per hour. It has a rounded hull that rests deeper in the water for greater stability, bow thruster for vessel assistive maneuverability and a bulbous bow that allows it to cut through waves more efficiently. The 2,700 gross ton ship can ferry 711 passengers and 20 drivers in bunk comfortably on its upper decks and up to 21 buses in its hold.

The sad reaity is that most of the 70-odd ro-ros now operating in the Philippines were bought from Japan where shipping laws require that after 20 years, they will have to decommissioned or sold abroad.

Enhanced safety features is what Starlite vessels had enhanced. Their ships are waterlight from car deck to main deck, resulting in enhanced stability and increased safety.

The vessels are also compliant with standards set by the ClassNK. They are built with enough easement between the main deck accommodate area and the railings on both sides are big enough to accommodate all passengers and crew in times of emergency )such as tilting or listing to one side). They also come with wide stairs for speedy but safe evacuation during emergency situations.

Advanced safety systems Starlite vessels are built by Kegoya Dockyard in Kure City in Hiroshima, Japan. The same dockyard that built the legendary Japanese battleship, Yamato, which saw action in decisive naval battles in the Pacific during the Second World War.

Starlite ferries are also equipped with a GPS navigator with video plotter that accurately plots the vessel's location, Doppler log that echoes sea depth, Navtex receiver that forecasts weather condition and RADAR with ARPA (Automatic Radar Plotting Aid).

Starlite ferries is also equipped with BNWAS or Bridge Navigational Watch Alarm System and EPIRBs (Emergency Positioning Indicating Radio Beacon).

The ferries also receive regular navigational and meteorological weather warnings and forecasts, while propulsion systems and bow thrusters allow for easier maneuvering.

SONA 2016 Pangako ng Pagbabago A Light Network Coverage

Our 16th PRESIDENT RODRIGO ROA DUTERTE of the Republic of the Philippines just recently talk on his first State of the Nation Address (SONA). He made Filipinos proud of him a formal and trademark of sense of humor on his first state of the nation address that has been held at the Batasang pambansa Complex last July 25, 2016.

Even though at first he sound so formal and serious, he still manage to have a bit of sense of humor during his speech, which is I believe natural to him.

One of the main center of President Rodrigo Duterte's speech is his advocacy to fight criminality in our country, most specially anything that has to do with drugs and what made me also be proud of him is that he also assures that one of his administrations priority is to increase the lives of the Filipino people.

His speech if i may not be mistaken lasted for about 1 hour and 40 minutes which i think is the longest speech ever a president of the Philippines for SONA.

Is Change really and if YES are we prepared for it? Change will always start within us because we are CHANGE itself not by any governance that can rule us but it should always start within us.

So far criminality and drugs is being prioritize I just hope next in line would have to do with being employed and benefits as well as for education and heath matters. 

I know and I strongly believe our President Rodrigo Duterte can manage to make a change it may not change everything ungood but i know he can make a big difference for our country. FERN-C Making Worklife Easier

As a blogger i tend to attend and be invited on events far from my home, from Makati and sometimes my destination for the day are either Quezon City or Alabang which is for me quit far already (not unless shuttle is provided).
