The "Sketches + Stitches" event kicked off with a buzz of excitement that was electric as the lights went out and music filled the air. The grand fashion show and charity gala, which was hosted by the talented designer Ryan Chris, promised to be an unforgettable evening for everyone who attended. The unveiling of Ryan's most recent designs was eagerly anticipated by guests who were all dressed to impress. However, the event was more than just a showcase for the fashion designer's skills. Instead, the sketch was a celebration of Ryan Chris's childhood dream, with every line devoted to community service.

Cutting-Edge Meets Classic
The runway came to life with a stunning display of colors, fabrics, technical skill, and incredible creativity as Ryan Chris presented his latest collection to the audience, following Joyce PeƱas Pilarky's newest collection that opened the show. Ryan Chris's designs were a perfect blend of sophistication and edginess, with each piece being more eye-catching than the last. The models, adorned in Ryan Chris' creations, glided down the runway, showcasing the unique details of almost a hundred ensembles. It was a true celebration of art and fashion, and the audience was in awe of the talent and creativity on display.


A Night of Style and Generosity
Beyond the stunning fashion, the event was also a celebration of giving back to the community. The proceeds from the evening were dedicated to two charities that were close to the designer's heart. The MBrace Project, an organization that aims to make a real difference in the lives of children with learning disabilities, cancer, and other chronic illnesses. Ryan Chris’ dedication to supporting this cause stems from his belief that all kids should have access to the resources and support they need to thrive. Additionally, the event supported the Indigenous People's Student Organization, a cause that is particularly important to Ryan Chris. The organization provides resources and support to Indigenous students pursuing higher education, empowering them to make a positive impact in their communities.

Ryan Chris has always been passionate about using his platform to make a difference, and this event was a testament to his talent, passion, vision, and generosity. As he celebrated his 12th year in the fashion industry, he ensured that the spotlight was on two important causes that truly deserved support. The event was a night to remember, filled with fashion and music by Laarni Lozada, Tommie King, and Red Sessions. In 2022, McDonald's Philippines surpassed its sales performance prior to the pandemic in 2019 with record-breaking sales.

The QSR giant, whose Chairman and Owner is Dr. George T. Yang and whose President and CEO is Kenneth Yang, attributes its performance not only to strong consumer mobility and post-pandemic behavior but also to its ongoing commitment to providing value for money, exciting limited-time menu offers, and an improved omnichannel customer experience.


Feeling good, feeling safe

From its first store opening in Morayta, Manila in 1981, McDonald’s Philippines continues to uphold global food safety and quality standards in the preparation and service of its food whether through dine-in, take-out, Drive-Thru, or McDelivery.  

This was further strengthened during the pandemic as part of its M Safe program, introduced in 2020.  

The company doubledowned on food safety and quality efforts through continuous monitoring, and crew and manager training, which contributed to its third party food safety audit results and customer perception scores on safety and trust.

Since the launch of M Safe, the company’s findings on ‘brand trust’ increased by 5.4% which contributed to increased dine-in guest count, lifting market share for McDonald’s in 2022.

Setting the standard for doing good 

McDonald’s takes pride in its global learning and development programs from Crew Training to Restaurant Leadership courses to its Digital Academy. As one of the biggest employers in the country, McDonald’s Philippines believes that everyone has the opportunity to grow and succeed in the company which starts by first having job security. McDonald’s is the first quick-service restaurant in the country to practice a direct hiring policy, providing regular employment to all its crew members. In 2022, McDonald’s Philippines hired more than 17,000 new employees in support of its new store openings—employing working students regardless of race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. 


To date, the company has close to 60,000 employees in over 700 stores across the Philippines— with over 47,000 employees in Luzon, close to 6,000 employees in Visayas, and 5,000 employees in Mindanao.

Serving meals with kindness 

McDonald’s also prioritizes its commitment to the communities where it operates. To serve meals to underserved families without access to food, McDonald’s Philippines launched the Kindness Kitchen, a flagship program of its charity of choice, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). 

In December 2022, Kindness Kitchen has served over 800,000 meals, a 33% increase from 600,000 meals served in May. The initiative aims to serve 1 million meals by the end of 2023.

In order to commemorate the reopening of Singapore's borders in April 2022, CEB and STB previously executed a memorandum of understanding (MOU). Due to the successes of the past year, both parties renewed the MOU today to intensify their collaboration to promote Singapore, one of the Philippines' most popular tourist destinations. Joint marketing and promotions, as well as joint business development in the fly-cruise, meetings, and incentive corporate groups sectors, will be key projects in this MOU for 2023.

CEB currently operates three flights per day between Manila and Singapore, making it simple for passengers to visit the Lion City, where they can sample the city's renowned cuisine, take in its picturesque locations, participate in adrenaline-pumping activities, or go shopping.

Passengers from the Visayas may also conveniently reach Singapore through Cebu Pacific’s daily flights from Mactan Cebu International Airport.

CEB will also increase its Singapore flights from Davao up to 4x weekly starting on March 26, 2023.

Travelers from Northern Luzon will also have a new gateway as CEB starts its daily Clark – Singapore flight on April 28, 2023.

To spur travels to Singapore, CEB travelers can book their flights for as low as PHP499 one-way base fare, exclusive of surcharges and fees on March 13 until March 15, 2023. The travel period is from June 1 to November 30, 2023.

Passengers with existing Travel Funds may use these to pay for flights and other add-ons. Apart from the Travel Fund, other payment options such as payment centers, credit or debit cards, and e-wallets may also be used.

CEB now flies to 34 domestic and 25 international destinations, spanning across Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.
