All-in-One Productivity with HUAWEI MatePad Family and nova Y74

Today's students move fluidly between different learning environments while managing lectures, digital readings, online assignments, group discussions, and creative projects in a single day. As the new school year draws near, Huawei, the leading tablet brand in the Philippines, responds to students' evolving needs with the Huawei MatePad Family, the ultimate PC-like tablets for school. For today's aspirational students, these tablets are the more intelligent productivity partner.

The Huawei MatePad Family, which was designed with the modern academic environment in mind, consists of the Huawei MatePad Pro, Huawei MatePad 12 X 2026, Huawei MatePad 11.5 S 2026, and Huawei MatePad 11.5. These devices are designed to give students an all-in-one productivity experience so they can learn, produce, present, and collaborate wherever their time on campus takes them.

Beyond tablets, the Huawei MatePad Family redefines student productivity. With a PC-like 4-in-1 setup that consists of the tablet, a Smart Magnetic Keyboard, a Bluetooth mouse, and the Huawei M-Pencil, students can effortlessly transition between different academic assignments and side projects throughout the day.

The experience is further enhanced by the Ultra-Clear PaperMatte Display, a paper-like screen designed for more comfortable content creation and study. When reading lengthy research papers, annotating lecture notes, or sketching ideas for class projects, students can benefit from less glare and a more realistic writing and viewing experience that resembles pen on paper.

4-in-1 AI-Powered PC-Level Productivity for Smarter Learning

The Huawei MatePad Family goes beyond traditional tablet functionality with AI-powered, PC-level productivity features, like the integrated PC-Level WPS Office 3.0 with new AI features that simplify everyday academic tasks.

Students can use WPS Word's Smart Create feature to create documents with a simple prompt. They can then quickly create presentation decks from those documents using Generate Slides from Docs. These are perfect for group presentations and class reports because they make content creation and brainstorming easier. AI Summarize helps distill lengthy readings and research materials into easily understood insights, while AI Sheet Assistant and Batch Processor automate spreadsheet tasks for data-intensive projects and coursework.

Along with AI-powered workflows, the Huawei MatePad Family gives students the flexibility to continue being productive wherever their studies take them. Thanks to support for programs like Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Grammarly, and Jupyter, users can effortlessly write essays, reports, lab write-ups, coding projects, and assignments whether in class, at home, in the library, or on the go.

With the Huawei MatePad Family, students can effortlessly participate in live lectures and online classes through Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams. Whenever they need to review lessons at their own pace, they can also access recorded lectures and educational materials.

Dashboard Sheets, Google Docs, and Google Sheets enable multiple users to edit documents simultaneously with real-time synchronization and version tracking, enhancing teamwork whether classmates are working on research, organizational projects, or presentations. Additionally, students can use creative tools like GoPaint and Canva to experiment with design, illustration, and visual storytelling projects right on the device.

Instead of constantly switching between devices, they can rely on the Huawei MatePad Family as their all-in-one workspace for productivity, creativity, and teamwork.

Empowering Students Through Real Campus Experiences

To further show its commitment to empowering student communities, Huawei recently launched the Huawei Campus Ambassadors Program at Metro Manila universities. Speaking on behalf of Huawei, a selected group of student ambassadors will highlight how the MatePad Family fulfills their academic, creative, personal, and campus needs.

The program emphasizes authentic student voices and relatable campus experiences. Ambassadors will create content based on real-world productivity scenarios, like studying for exams in coffee shops, collaborating on thesis presentations, balancing internships and administrative responsibilities, and managing both online and in-person classes. Through these first-hand narratives, HUAWEI hopes to bolster the student body while elevating the voices and experiences of modern students.

Bringing the HUAWEI MatePad Experience Directly to Campuses

Additionally, Huawei intends to begin interactive roadshows at some of the top universities in the country, bringing the experience directly to campuses. Through hands-on demonstrations and immersive booth activations, students will get a firsthand look at the Huawei MatePad Family. From taking notes during lectures and multitasking for schoolwork to working on group projects and creating content while on the go, they will discover how its PC-level productivity features fit easily into their daily routines.

In an effort to increase the accessibility of these productivity tools, Huawei is starting special back-to-school student promotions and bundle offers for college and senior high school students on July 7, 2026. Qualified students can benefit from special bundle packages when purchasing a Huawei MatePad. The Huawei M-Pencil, Smart Keyboard, mouse, and WPS Office are all included in the 4-in-1 bundle, which costs PHP 21,896.

Students who buy during this time will also get a free bag (worth PHP 1,990), a surprise gift, and a free one-year WPS AI membership (worth PHP 7,000). These extra features enhance the Huawei MatePad's PC-level productivity capabilities and provide students with all they need to maximize value for the forthcoming academic year while fostering a more intelligent and effective learning environment.

Introducing the HUAWEI MatePad Mini and nova Y74

Students can also look forward to the upcoming Huawei MatePad Mini, which will be available for pre-order starting on July 1. The device was designed for users who value portability without compromising productivity. It features an 8.8-inch Flexible OLED PaperMatte Display and an ultra-light 260 g, ultra-thin 5.2 mm design that makes it easy to carry from one class to the next.

An exclusive bundle for customers who pre-order includes a Huawei M-Pencil Pro (worth PHP 7,999), a MatePad Mini Flip Cover (worth PHP 3,499), pre-installed PC-level WPS Office, and premium after-sales support with a 3-year one-time free battery replacement and a 1-year two-time free PaperMatte Display Care package (worth PHP 2,999), giving students even more value as they get ready for the upcoming academic year.

The Huawei MatePad Mini offers powerful performance in a compact package, while the Huawei Nova Y74 completes the lineup with dependable all-day power and versatility at a reasonable price point.

The 6620mAh battery and 40W Huawei SuperCharge Turbo that power the Huawei Nova Y74 offer long-lasting performance and fast top-ups so users can stay connected and focused during busy days. One charge can support up to 30.6 hours of local video playback, 24.9 hours of online video streaming, 59.3 hours of online music playback, and 48.1 hours of continuous calling.

The device is designed to endure the rigors of everyday life, with a drop resistance of up to 1.8 meters, a pressure resistance of up to 65 kg, and a temperature resistance of down to -20°C.

The experience is completed with a 6.67-inch EyeEase Display that reduces blue light for more comfortable viewing. Alongside this is the AI Smart Control, which lets users quickly access frequently used apps and shortcuts with a single press, doing away with the need for menus.

Buyers can take advantage of exclusive promos for the HUAWEI nova Y74 starting July 1. Customers via the HUAWEI Online Store and HUAWEI’s official shops on Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop can secure the device at a promo price of PHP 14,999 (from an SRP of PHP 15,999) and enjoy a PHP 300 early bird voucher for added savings.

Fueling Around the World: Your Grandmother Was Right — Traditional Foods Are Elite Sports Nutrition

Every summer when the world's best soccer players play, the question of what they eat comes up. meals before the match. Recuperation shudders. Guidelines for hydration. And every year, a lot of fans depart with the same impression: elite sports nutrition is something manufactured, something alien, something that exists in a lab.

The opposite is true, according to Dr. Luigi Gratton, Vice President of Health and Wellness at Herbalife, who has worked in sports nutrition for decades. You might be surprised to learn how similar the foods your grandmother prepared in her kitchen, on her stove, and using ingredients from her own grandmother are to the nutrition of elite athletes. The foundations of traditional cuisines from all over the world—balanced macronutrients, seasonal produce, lean protein, whole grains, healthy fats, and an appreciation of food as a source of both community and nourishment—are the same ones that currently power professional athletes.

As the Philippines observes Nutrition Month, this message seems particularly pertinent. Healthy eating is not always the result of expensive wellness fads or unfamiliar ingredients. The traditional home-cooked meals in many Filipino households, especially those prepared by grandmothers, already reflect the same principles of balance, nourishment, and shared mealtimes that encourage active lifestyles and overall wellness. Home-cooked meals have been associated with better diet quality in studies.

As the world focuses on soccer this summer, Dr. Gratton highlights traditional foods from cultures that love football and already fit the Performance Plate framework used by elite athletes.

Mexico and Central America: rice, beans and the complete protein

Corn, rice, beans, tomatoes, cheese, tortillas, and chiles are the main ingredients of Mexican and Central American cuisine. You can see why athletes benefit from huevos rancheros, a local favorite consisting of over-easy eggs with rice and beans. It contains the same components that the guide recommends for a Performance Plate: carbohydrates from rice, protein from eggs and beans, and the kind of identifiable, easily comprehensible profile we look for in training.

Brazil and South America: the recovery stew

According to the guide, feijoada from Brazil is a smoky stew of beans, beef, and pork. This kind of slow-cooked, high-protein, high-carb dish aligns well with the recovery principles we teach. Peruvian ceviche and other lean fish dishes are ideal for a training week menu. The guide also mentions that many elite athletes deliberately use caffeine from yerba mate, a popular South American tea, as part of their fueling.

The Mediterranean: the sports nutrition blueprint

The Mediterranean diet is mentioned in every nutrition study for a reason. The diets of France, Italy, Spain, and Greece are rich in seafood, whole grains, and olive oil. The cornerstones of recovery nutrition—complex carbohydrates, monounsaturated fats, and omega-3 fatty acids—are found in these foods. Spanish paella, which is essentially a carb-and-protein plate for match day, consists of rice, chicken or seafood, vegetables, and saffron. A Greek salad with feta, olive oil, and olives is a great anti-inflammatory side dish for any athlete.

Asia: layered meals that work hard

Athletes can meet their carbohydrate needs with bases of rice and noodles from Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and Southeast Asian cuisine, which are then topped with vegetables, lean protein, and tasty broths. A Korean bibimbap is essentially a performance plate in a bowl consisting of rice, mixed vegetables, lean beef, and a fried egg. Japanese miso soup offers electrolytes and fermented foods for gut health. Additionally, because of its anti-inflammatory qualities, which have been demonstrated to speed healing and reduce muscle soreness, turmeric—a bright yellow spice commonly used in South and Southeast Asian cuisine—is part of my recovery advice.

In the Philippines, common home-cooked dishes like arroz caldo, sinigang, and chicken tinola use the same layered technique. Carbs, protein, vegetables, and broths are all naturally combined in these dishes to promote hydration, recuperation, and general nutrition. According to studies, Filipino diets that are balanced and cooked at home typically have higher nutritional quality scores than those that are eaten out.

The Middle East: dates, hummus and plant-based power

Middle Eastern cuisine contains some of the world's greatest foods for athletes. Hummus is made with plant-based protein from chickpeas and healthy fat from tahini. Falafel is high in protein. A potent source of micronutrients is tabouleh. Dates, a popular food in the region, are also among the best natural pre-training carbohydrates available, offering quick-absorbing sugars and potassium for hydration. The traditional foods that break a fast at dusk are actually exactly what the body needs after a long fast, so athletes who observe Ramadan can work with a sports dietitian to meet their energy needs while honoring their fast.

Africa: jollof, shakshuka and the everyday athlete

A complete athlete meal is West African jollof rice, a spiced tomato-based rice dish served with grilled fish or chicken. Eggs are poached in a tomato and cumin sauce to make Northern African shakshuka, a high-protein, micronutrient-rich breakfast that can be eaten before or after exercise. These hacks have nothing to do with sports. Generations of players throughout the continent have been fueled by these staple foods.

The elite-to-everyday message

I've learned from all of this that giving up your food culture is not the aim of elite sports nutrition. It's about realizing that the fundamentals of healthy fueling—colorful produce, whole foods, balanced macronutrients, hydration, and an activity-appropriate rhythm—apply to everyone. Every cuisine in every nation that loves soccer has its own interpretation of the Performance Plate. The components are distinct. The ideas are the same.

This summer, as you watch the world's best athletes compete, remember that the food they consume is not as dissimilar from your own kitchen as you might think. The same principles that motivate Cristiano Ronaldo, Joseph Paintsil, Riqui Puig, and the rest of the elite game also motivate you, whether you're chasing a ball on a sunny Sunday morning or just chasing your kids around the park. Your grandmother was right. A foundation was always present. The game just gave it a new name.

Bounty Celebrates 40 Years of “Making Food Better,” Strengthens Commitment Toward a More Food-Secure Philippines

"For four decades, Filipinos have given Bounty a place on their tables, and the biggest way we can pay back their trust is by strengthening the country's food security. We're committed to safeguarding food security for all Filipinos through agricultural production and leadership." ~Kenneth Cheng, President of Fresh Group and CEO of Bounty Fresh Group Holdings, Inc.

A celebration of four decades of passion, innovation, and dedication to Filipino families unfolded as Bounty marked its 40th anniversary with a powerful message — continuing its mission to help strengthen the country’s food security.

I had the opportunity to witness this milestone celebration held last June 25 at the Marquis Events Place in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, where Bounty executives, media partners, and industry leaders gathered to look back on the company’s incredible journey and discuss the future of Philippine agriculture.

More than just an anniversary celebration, the event became a meaningful conversation about one of the country’s biggest challenges — achieving food security and building a stronger, more sustainable agricultural industry.

During the program, Atty. Kenneth Cheng, CEO of Bounty Fresh Group Holdings, Inc. and President of Fresh Group, shared Bounty’s commitment to helping the Philippines move closer toward food self-sufficiency.

What stood out to me during the discussion was how Bounty’s vision goes beyond simply producing food. The company emphasized that food security starts from the roots — from supporting farmers, improving agricultural practices, investing in technology, and creating opportunities for communities across the country.

Through partnerships with Filipino farmers and livestock raisers, Bounty provides access to tools, training, technology, and market opportunities to help them grow and become more competitive.

Mr. Rodolfo Abelardo “Polo” Ablazo, General Manager of the Commercial Feeds - Agribusiness Group, also highlighted the importance of empowering agricultural partners.

"We want the whole agricultural sector to thrive together, so we empower thousands of entrepreneurs across the country and help farmers and livestock raisers succeed by providing advanced nutrition, technology, and technical support that improve animal health, productivity, and profitability. When our partners succeed, they help strengthen food security, create jobs in their communities, and ensure Filipino families continue to have access to safe, high-quality, and affordable food." ~Mr. Rodolfo Abelardo "Polo" Ablazo, general manager of the Commercial Feeds - Agribusiness Group

A fascinating takeaway from the event is how Bounty has built an integrated food ecosystem — from raising livestock and producing feeds to delivering ready-to-enjoy meals for Filipino consumers.

Food made better

Bounty’s story started from humble beginnings in Santa Maria, Bulacan, beginning as a single-layer farm with only 5,000 chickens.

Over the years, the company expanded by investing in different parts of the agricultural supply chain, including grandparent farms, parent stock farms, hatcheries, dressing plants, feed mills, and modern cool-cell broiler complexes.

This growth allowed Bounty to maintain better control over quality, safety, and production — ensuring that every product reaching Filipino households meets their standards.

One interesting milestone in Bounty’s journey was its transition in 2023 into “One Bounty,” bringing together four major groups: Bounty Fresh Group, Agribusiness Group, Branded & Value-Added Group, and Restaurant Group.

This move created a more unified vision for the company, allowing each group to work together and strengthen Bounty’s overall ecosystem.

"For 40 years, Filipinos have trusted and allowed us to be part of their meals, so we share our success with everyone who welcomed us to their tables. We will continue to provide comfort food that makes every moment better." ~James Benedict Carreon, president of Restaurant Group

"Our diverse portfolio of convenient, high-quality, and nutritious products is what makes Bounty a household fixture daily. We will continue to push the boundaries of food innovation, staying true to our commitment to 'food made better." ~Arch. Edwin Chen, president of Branded & Value-Added Group

For many Filipinos, Bounty is already a familiar part of everyday meals. Today, the company continues to expand its reach with more than 2,200 stores nationwide under popular brands such as Chooks-to-Go and Uling Roasters.

From family dinners to quick meals on busy days, these brands have become part of Filipino food culture by providing accessible and comforting meals.

James Benedict Carreon, President of Restaurant Group, shared how the company values the trust that Filipino consumers have given them throughout the years.

Meanwhile, Arch. Edwin Chen, President of Branded & Value-Added Group, highlighted how Bounty continues to innovate while staying true to its promise of “food made better.”

After 40 years, Bounty’s journey reflects more than business growth — it represents a commitment to helping build a stronger agricultural sector in the Philippines.

From supporting farmers and creating jobs to producing food that reaches millions of Filipino families, Bounty continues to play an important role in the country’s food landscape.

The celebration was a reminder that every meal has a story behind it — from the hardworking farmers and agricultural partners to the people who make sure quality food reaches Filipino tables.

As Bounty enters its next chapter, the company continues to focus on innovation, collaboration, and sustainability — proving that making food better also means helping create a better and more food-secure future for everyone.

Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) and GCash support livelihood opportunities for returning OFWs

“We are pleased to welcome another valued partner in advancing our financial literacy initiatives. Now more than ever, it is essential that Filipinos overseas are provided with wider support and education on digital savings, responsible investment practices, and overall financial wellness.” ~Dante Ang II, CFO Chairperson
(L-R) GCash Head of International Transfers Julie Anne Abalos; Chief Regulatory Officer Cef Sison; GCash International General Manager Arjun Varma; Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) Chairperson Dante Ang II; Executive Director V Arlene Borja; and Supervising Emigrant Services Officer Janet Ramos.

The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) has partnered with GCash, the country's top finance super app and largest cashless ecosystem, to better support Filipinos living overseas and returning migrants, particularly those who return home without a stable source of income.

Due to their limited access to financial management skills, coordinated reintegration assistance, and sustainable income possibilities, returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) often face financial instability after their employment overseas ends. The alliance seeks to bridge these gaps by creating a more accessible and effective support system.

By integrating CFO's operations into the GCash digital ecosystem, the alliance provides returning migrants with simple access to financial services, business opportunities, and essential reintegration initiatives. Additionally, the partnership will speed up government transactions by opening up new digital payment channels for CFO services.

As part of the project, a unique migrant marketplace will be developed within the GCash app, enabling returning Filipinos to explore small business opportunities and other sources of income.

CFO Chairperson Dante Ang II added that the partnership enhances the organization's goal of helping Filipinos both domestically and overseas.

The endeavor is expected to enhance government support delivery for returning migrants through both digital and physical channels, in addition to bolstering financial capacities, increasing income-generating possibilities, and boosting access to reintegration programs.

The partnership shows GCash's continued commitment to financial inclusion, according to Julie Ann Abalos, GCash's head of foreign transfers.

"More than just a formal agreement, this is a shared promise that wherever Filipinos may be in the world, they have a trusted partner in helping them progress and achieve their dreams." ~Julie Ann Abalos, GCash Head of International Transfers

The partnership will be established gradually until 2026; as efforts are completed, additional details will be made public.

Furthermore, GCash will support the commission's orientation programs and Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS), giving OFWs the knowledge and tools they need throughout their journey—from departure to eventual return and reintegration.

GCash aims to assist migrants who have already established themselves in their home countries to keep financial relationships to their families in the Philippines, in addition to supporting reintegration programs.

For more information, visit https://www.gcash.com.

About GCash
GCash is the Philippines’ #1 Finance Super App and Largest Cashless Ecosystem. Through the GCash App, users can easily purchase prepaid airtime; pay bills via partner billers nationwide; send and receive money anywhere in the Philippines, even to other bank accounts; purchase from over 6 million partner merchants and social sellers; and get access to savings, credit, loans, insurance and invest money, and so much more, all at the convenience of their smartphones. Its mobile wallet operations are handled by G-Xchange, Inc. (GXI), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mynt, the first and only $5 billion unicorn in the Philippines.

GCash is a staunch supporter of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly UN SDGs 5,8,10, and 13, which focus on safety & security, financial inclusion, diversity, equity, and inclusion as well as taking urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts, respectively.

Innovation Meets Opportunity: Livestock Philippines & Aquaculture Philippines 2026 Opens Today at World Trade Center Metro Manila

"This event represents a critical moment for the Philippine energy industry. As we face growing energy demands and the urgent need for sustainable solutions, The events provide the ideal environment for knowledge exchange, business partnerships, and technological innovation." ~Ms. Rungphech Chitanuwat, the Country General Manager of Informa Markets Philippines

Livestock Philippines 2026 and Aquaculture Philippines 2026, the top and leading conference for the livestock, poultry, and aquaculture industries, will take place at the World Trade Center today, June 24, 2026. The occasion will unite the nation's farming community to showcase ideas, form alliances, and advance sustainable growth.

The three-day event is anticipated to be the most significant platform for promoting the rapidly growing livestock, poultry, and aquaculture sectors in the Philippines, which are essential to the nation's economic development and food security.

Livestock Philippines & Aquaculture Philippines will welcome an amazing 11,000 guests and 300 local and foreign exhibitors spanning the whole energy sector, from energy efficiency technologies and grid infrastructure solutions to renewable energy and power generation.

A variety of conferences and seminars are available at the exhibition with the goal of addressing the most significant problems and opportunities in the livestock and aquaculture sectors. This year's events center around the Department of Agriculture Pavilion, which unites eleven government agencies under one roof. This unified presence, which provides direct access to financial programs, insurance plans, veterinary services, support for research and development, regulatory guidance, and market access, demonstrates the government's whole-of-agency commitment to agricultural growth.
