The torrential rains from the southwest monsoon, exacerbated by the recent typhoon Egay, caused extensive flooding in Bulacan, with certain regions resembling inland seas.

In response, SM Supermalls and SM Foundation Inc. initiated concurrent relief operations under their Operation Tulong Express (OPTE) program to provide urgent aid to the communities affected by the typhoon in Bulacan.

SM City Marilao dispatched volunteers to flood-ravaged areas in Marilao, to provide immediate relief to thousands of families affected by the week-long incessant and widespread rains dumped by Typhoon Egay and the southwest monsoon.SM Assistant Vice President for Operations Ana Datu led the relief distribution in Marilao.

SM Center Pulilan went above and beyond by carrying out door-to-door distribution of relief packs in Paltao and Longos in Pulilan, as well as Wawa and San Juan in Balagtas. This approach allowed volunteers to personally identify and help individuals or families who may not have been able to reach the centralized relief centers. Through this personalized and attentive method, they made sure that nobody in need was overlooked during this challenging period. Approximately 1,300 families in Pulilan and Balagtas benefited from these relief efforts.
