SM Cares and Safeguard promote proper handwashing for #SafeHandsAtSM

The benefits of correct hand washing are major. SM Cares and Safeguard, the number one brand in germ protection, collaborated for the SAFE HANDS CAMPAIGN. This was conceptualized as early as March of this year. This campaign promotes correct hand washing as the first line of defense against the spread of illness. Safeguard will provide liquid hand soap to SM Supermalls Nationwide. So, shoppers, have access to germ protection hand wash during their visits to SM Supermalls.

Medical experts all agree on the best way we can protect ourselves at all times:

2. Observe social distancing.
3. Keep your immune system healthy by eating right, taking supplements, and getting enough sleep.
4. Wash our hands as often as possible.

And at SM, they ensure that these protocols are followed rigorously with all their SAFE MALLING endeavors. SM Cares and Safeguard team up for the #SafeHandsAtSM campaign to educate and encourage people to practice the five steps of proper handwashing – especially in this time of the pandemic. 

We usually wash our hands fast – but did you know that there are proper steps of handwashing? At the core of this campaign are the 5 steps proper handwashing. Here are the 5 STEPS TO GOOD HAND WASHING:

1. Wash your palms.
2. Wash the back of your hands.
3. Scrub in between fingers.
4. Gently scrub those nails.
5. Don't forget those thumbs, and keep scrubbing for at least 20 seconds.

Afterward, rinse and dry your hands thoroughly, since good handwashing is our most effective shield and protection from all kinds of viruses.

As part of the #SafeMallingAtSM campaign, Safeguard has made its liquid hand soap available in restrooms of all SM malls across the country to help the community fight the spread disease-causing germs. Information materials on the five steps of handwashing are also deployed in restrooms and high-traffic areas in SM to remind customers while in the mall. 

With this, Safeguard and #SMDaresYOU to take on the #SafeHandsAtSM Challenge on TikTok from June 23 to 30. Just take a full-body video of you properly washing your hands and dancing to your favorite tunes, tag your squad and use the official hashtag #SafeHandsAtSM, and be one of the 10 lucky winners who’ll get exciting giveaways!

Rico Blanco performs “Liwanag sa Dilim” to support healthcare frontliners

Touched and inspired by P&G Safeguard's Bayanihands video, Rico Blanco shares his special cover of Liwanag Sa Dilim as a way to pay tribute to our modern-day heroes and in support of the BayaniHands Project for the Philippine Red Cross. As we face more challenges brought about by our current situation, Filipinos have gone above themselves to become a hero to one another. This just goes to show that even in the darkest moments, we can continue to show our solidarity and togetherness. 

Through the little acts of bayanihan of Filipinos, Safeguard created the BayaniHands Project. “BayaniHands” focuses on the power of safe hands, and how they can become a force for good during these times. 

The BayaniHands Project of the brand was launched through a heartwarming video featuring a cover of the Rico Blanco & Rivermaya classic, Liwanag sa Dilim, while showing real-life acts of bayanihan each and every Filipino does to be each other’s light in these trying times. The project was also created to show how much we appreciate all the efforts and sacrifices our frontliners have done for the people of our country.

Touched by this video, Filipino Rock Icon Rico Blanco, who composed Liwanag Sa Dilim, recorded and posted a special at-home performance of the song. This was his way of showing support for P&G Safeguard’s BayaniHands Project and uplifting our frontliners.

As we continue to show how much we appreciate all the efforts and sacrifices our frontliners have done for the people of our country, we hope to encourage everyone to continue joining hands and be each other’s light amidst these trying times by contributing to the P&G Safeguard BayaniHands project.
