Cardinal Santos Medical Center in partnership with the Philippine Center for Advanced Surgery (PCAS) is promoting Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) through their first-ever WebiCon entitled: Why Less is Better: 10 Things to Know About Minimally Invasive Surgery. The event aims to educate and empower patients and the general public on innovative and life-saving medical services available today.

Minimally Invasive Surgery: What you should know

What is Minimally Invasive Surgery?
  • Minimally invasive surgery is a form of surgery that is done using small incisions (cuts) on human tissue. During the surgery, tubes called trocars are inserted in the incision and serve as passages for small cameras (laparoscope or endoscope) and specialized surgical equipment.
What are the Advantages of MIS?
  • Since MIS requires smaller incisions compared to the traditional open surgery, the results are less visible postoperative scarring, less pain and bleeding, and a quicker recovery period.

New Year, New Me: Signs You’ve Embraced the Adult Life

As we face the adulting stage, there are a lot of things that we need to overcome, especially in dealing with our career,  managing time and finances, and even securing personal documents. Indeed, growing up can feel less overwhelming once you start achieving adulting milestones step-by-step.

With ShopeePay, life will become easy. Shopee got you covered in securing your documents. ShopeePay is a safe, convenient, and secure way for users to pay for their bills and online shopping purchases. It also offers monthly promos, cash backs, daily vouchers, and discounts for both new and regular users.

Transitioning to adulthood is never easy. Even when you plan or think you’re ready for what’s to come, there will always be bumps along the way. That said, growing up can feel less overwhelming once you start achieving adulting milestones step-by-step.

Think you’ve mastered the art of adulting? Here are signs to look out for:

You have a steady job.
It’s natural to jump from one job to another at the beginning of your career, but as you grow older, you begin to understand what you want to do until you retire. You weigh in on the pros and cons before accepting a job offer because you know your value. You’re aware that there are other jobs out there that would better suit your skills and experience.

You manage your time wisely.
There is a common misconception that being busy equates to being productive. Many people try to multitask and eventually produce low-quality output or get burned out. Adulthood is about accepting the fact that you can’t juggle multiple responsibilities all at once and understanding that prioritization is key to lessening the burden.

You prioritize your finances and ensure government papers.
When you were younger, you were comfortable living from paycheck to paycheck. Now, you’re financially independent and only spend what you can afford. You keep track of all your bills. You want to avoid the hassle of time-consuming queues, and so you pay for your utilities and reload your radio-frequency identification (RFID) stickers on time and online.

You also ensure that aside from updating government IDs such as your driver’s license and passport, your NBI clearance is up to date in case of employment. For secure and worry-free transactions, Shopee has you covered. Use ShopeePay, Shopee’s official mobile wallet, to top-up your EasyTrip account and pay for your NBI clearance.

Here’s how you can reload your EasyTrip account and pay for your NBI clearance with ShopeePay:

ShopeePay is a safe, convenient, and secure way for users to pay for their bills and online shopping purchases. It also offers monthly promos, cash backs, daily vouchers, and discounts for both new and regular users.

Meng Bo Calls Out Denice Zamboanga, Wants Her Spot in Rankings

“We were supposed to fight last year, but COVID happened and it was cancelled. I couldn’t fly to Singapore at that time. But I must say, Denice was lucky that fight got cancelled. If we were in the ring together, without a shadow of doubt, I would beat her up and take her spot as the #1 ranked atomweight in the division. Denice is a stubborn and tough fighter. But if I was to identify her strength, she’s only good at punching, nothing else. (As for me) I learned a lot in the Samara Santos fight. One weak area I’ve discovered is my ground fighting skills. I need to improve my ground control and strength. My goal is to master all combat sports skills and become the most dangerous MMA fighter in ONE Championship. I think my stand up fighting techniques will be enough to give me the victory. I’m pretty confident that I can finish Denice with a flurry of punches and knock her out within two rounds. That would be more than enough to earn a shot at the World Title. Once I get Denice in the Circle and beat her, I will be ranked #1 in my division, and I’ll be next in line to fight the champion.” ~Meng Bo, Number 2 ranked women's atomweight MMA
Meng Bo Calls Out Denice Zamboanga, Wants Her Spot in Rankings

Fresh off a hard-earned unanimous decision victory over Samara Santos at ONE: UNBREAKABLE on 22 January, #2-ranked women’s atomweight mixed martial arts contender Meng Bo already has her sights set on a possible next opponent.

The 24-year-old fighter from Changsha, China -- currently unbeaten in the ONE Circle -- is calling for a showdown with the #1-ranked Denice “The Menace” Zamboanga of the Philippines. Meng wasted absolutely no time, making her desire to face Zamboanga and take her spot in the official athlete rankings known immediately after her impressive performance last Friday night.

Denice “The Menace” Zamboanga of the Philippines

Denice “The Menace” Zamboanga of the Philippines

Meng is today one of the hottest fighters in the atomweight division. Famous for being the only woman to have defeated UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion “Magnum” Zhang Weili, Meng has knocked out two of her last three opponents, both in the first round.

Meanwhile, Zamboanga’s resounding victories over top-ranked Jihin Radzuan and Mei Yamaguchi since joining ONE Championship in 2019 earned her pole position in the rankings. She currently sports an unblemished 5-0 record.

Meng, however, is hardly impressed by what “The Menace” has accomplished so far in the world’s largest martial arts organization. The 24-year-old Chinese standout feels she is a far better fighter and wants to knock Zamboanga off her lofty perch.

Both Meng and Zamboanga are expected to be participants in the much anticipated ONE Atomweight World Grand Prix, slated to commence sometime later this year. Meng wants Zamboanga in a bad way, regardless. Without a doubt, both Meng and Zamboanga are on a collision course.

If it were up to the Chinese star, she wants to face Zamboanga in the Circle sooner rather than later, tournament or not.

ONE Championship returns with ONE: UNBREAKABLE II, a previously recorded event scheduled for broadcast on Friday, 29 January.

In the main event, former ONE Heavyweight World Title challenger Mauro "The Hammer" Cerilli of Italy will take on Russia's Abdulbasir "Dagestan Machine" Vagabov. Also scheduled for action is four-time Heavyweight Muay Thai and Kickboxing World Champion Alain "The Panther" Ngalani of Hong Kong, who will face Senegalese sensation "Reug Reug" Oumar Kane.

Meet Zoi Lifestyle, the app that conveniently connects you to your go-to salons, spas, and skincare clinics

“Because of the pandemic, many Filipinos, including myself, had no choice but to book appointments to get a haircut, a facial, or other services. However, many establishments in the beauty and wellness industry are not able to respond to customer queries. This is how we conceived Zoi, which has made it far easier and much more convenient for clients to book their haircuts and other beauty and wellness needs, all by using this app. The beauty and wellness industry took a major hit since the pandemic began in the country. Salons, spas, skin clinics, and barbershops were the first establishments mandated to close and the last ones to re-open, leading owners to either forego employees, scale down operations, or even shut down permanently. Our plan is to onboard more partners to enlist their businesses in the app so that people can have access to all their beauty and wellness needs at their fingertips. Currently, we have partners from all over Metro Manila but in the future, we plan to expand to other major cities in the Philippines like Cebu and Davao as well.” ~Patrick Victoria, Founder of Zoi Lifestyle App
Meet Zoi Lifestyle, the app that conveniently connects you to your go-to salons, spas, and skincare clinics

Zoi Lifestyle App New Beauty and Wellness Booking App. Zoi is derived from the Greek word meaning “Life”. It aims to ease the access of our everyday Filipino citizens to essential lifestyle services by providing safety, security, and convenience.

The pandemic has certainly made us reliant on digital platforms more than ever. In the past year, most of us have been doing day-to-day tasks such as working or schooling, grocery shopping, and banking through convenient apps and online services.

Although trips to our go-to salons, barbershops, spas, or wellness clinics were not prioritized as much due to safety protocols, we can all agree that practicing self-care is also necessary especially at a time when mental and physical wellness is very important. This need is what led to the development of the Zoi Lifestyle App. Zoi Lifestyle is a new online mobile application that allows users to book appointments hassle-free with their favorite go-to salons, spas, skincare clinics, and the like.

If you’ve tried setting up appointments with salons, spas, or even skincare clinics, you probably know how frustratingly difficult it can get. Phone calls are not picked up, text messages go unanswered, direct messages on social media are seen-zoned but ignored. Thankfully, all that is a thing of the past with the Zoi Lifestyle app.

An online app that lets you book appointments with salons, spas, skincare clinics,, and the like, Zoi aims to do for the wellness industry what the likes of FoodPanda and Grab have done for the restaurant sector. Through its online booking service, it aims to help businesses in the beauty and wellness industry by providing them with a platform to reach clients, while at the same time allowing them to manage the flow of clients, in keeping with government rules to limit the number of people at a given time. Payments are also done through the app, which makes contactless payment possible.

With Zoi's mobile application, anyone can now book appointments with salons, spas, and skincare clinics alike. As of today, Zoi has partnered with Cut by Encarnacion, Danna's Beauty Salon and Spa, Skinnovate Skin Care, Salon De Laurel, Royal Aesthetics, Lush, and Luxe Nail Lounge, and Dr. Claudine Ramos Dermatology.

Through the Zoi Lifestyle App, beauty and wellness providers will have an additional platform to reach clients and increase their digital presence as they slowly return to their normal operations and adapt to the impacts of the pandemic.

Not only is it convenient for users but it also aims to help businesses in the beauty and wellness industry to recover by providing them a platform to serve and reach more customers while at the same time allowing them to manage the flow of clients, in keeping with the mandated health and safety protocols. Indeed, life can be much easier with technology on your side. Support and download Zoi through the Google Playstore.
