“I’m proud to see how Cha-Ching has given young learners the kind of financial education many of us wish we had growing up. Ten years in, and two million students later, the message is clear: the need is real, and so is the impact.” ~Atty. Calvin Kohchet-Chua, Pru Life UK Senior Vice President & Chief Legal, Government Relations, and Sustainability Officer
Pru Life UK and Prudence Foundation remain committed to expanding and improving financial literacy coverage in the country, with their flagship financial education programme, Cha-Ching, recently reaching two million Filipino youth beneficiaries, a significant milestone coinciding with the program's tenth anniversary.
To highlight Cha-Ching's growing reach and transformative impact, Pru Life UK held a Financial Literacy Summit and Engagement Session on June 16 at Cha-Ching partner Senate President Neptali A. Gonzales Integrated School (SPNAGIS) in Mandaluyong.
Teachers, students, representatives from JA Asia Pacific and JA Philippines, as well as key officials from the Department of Education's (DepEd) national and regional offices, were among the many stakeholders and significant partners in attendance. They all conveyed a deep dedication to the Cha-Ching and its current endeavors.
One of the highlights of the event was a presentation of the Cha-Ching session, which exemplifies the program's experience-driven, participatory approach that promotes beneficiary participation.
The event was an important chance to formally recognize and honor the program's devoted DepEd partners and Teacher Champions, who have been crucial to the successful implementation of financial education programs in classrooms, in addition to celebrating Cha-Ching's 10th anniversary and two million reach milestones.
A stakeholder perspective that emphasized Pru Life UK's commitment to innovation and continuous development was also extended to alumni, educators, parents, and local leaders.
The Prudence Foundation, the community investment division of Prudential plc, the parent company of Pru Life UK, developed the award-winning global financial literacy program Cha-Ching, which gives the next generation the financial knowledge and skills they need to make prudent decisions that support financial wellbeing and a resilient future.
A curriculum program was developed in collaboration with JA Asia Pacific to encourage money-smart behavior, knowledge, and values in children aged seven to twelve. The curriculum has been taught to more than 3 million students in 16 Asian and African markets, with more than 87,000 instructors trained thus far.
