“McDonald’s Philippines is committed to generating employment opportunities for Filipinos, regardless of their age, gender, and background. Our inclusive workplace is a welcoming environment not just for working students and working-age individuals, but also out-of-school youth, persons with disabilities, and through this partnership, senior citizens. We’re excited to partner with Davao City for the M For All Program, and we’re looking forward to more opportunities for collaboration and partnership that will benefit the people and communities. Since opening our first store in Davao City in the 1990s, McDonald’s Philippines has seen impressive growth and development in the city. For over 30 years, McDonald’s has seen families create feel-good memories, employees develop into the best versions of themselves, and the entire Davao City become stronger and more progressive.” ~Adi Hernandez, Assistant Vice President for Corporate Relations and Impact
McDonald's Philippines intends to hire at least 110 senior citizens at 18 of its Davao City stores as part of its inclusive recruiting effort M at All, which aims to hire people with disabilities (PWD) and senior citizens. The program will run from October 2025 to December 2026.
The large quick service restaurant (QSR) has signed a memorandum of agreement with the Davao City Government, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and its Public Service Employment Office (PESO).
A welcoming and inclusive workplace for seniors
As McDonald's Philippines grows and opens more outlets across the country, there is an increasing need for a dynamic workforce. Furthermore, despite the fact that working students and recent graduates, or Gen Z, make up a sizable amount of its talent pool, McDonald's firmly believes in providing employment opportunities to people in their 60s and beyond.
McDonald's Philippines provides its workers with a top-notch training and development program, job security, and an inclusive workplace as part of its people practices. Since Chairman and Master Franchise Holder Dr. George T. Yang constructed the first facility in Manila in 1981, McDonald's Philippines has used direct employment and non-contractualization, providing job stability to its more than 65,000 employees.
Since its establishment in 2019, M For All, formerly known as the Alternative Workforce Program, has been hiring senior persons for its businesses. 61 company-owned and franchised stores in the cities of Manila, Pasay City, Caloocan City, ParaƱaque City, Pasig City, San Fernando City in Pampanga, and Bacoor, Cavite, implemented the plan in 2025.
M For All is the first partnership between McDonald's Philippines and Davao City, as well as the first involvement outside of Luzon. The program will also be launched in conjunction with other LGUs in Visayas and Luzon in the coming months.
Under the M For All initiative, each qualified applicant gets hired for a period of five months, working four hours a day, five days a week. Each applicant is placed in the store foyer, where they will deal with patrons, serve drinks and orders, and manage the tables. They receive employer-funded group life insurance in addition to government-mandated salary, which also include a portion of the compulsory 13th month's pay.
Thirty years in Davao City
In addition to providing good experiences for its customers, the beloved QSR has been committed to enhancing the lives of its workers and the communities it serves.
By giving over 2,000 shop managers and service employees their "Best Me," the 22 McDonald's restaurants in Davao City alone support the local economy and create jobs for residents and others in the neighborhood.
Last July, Davao Global Township hosted the opening of the 800th "Green & Good" McDonald's in Mindanao. With solar panels, rainwater collecting tanks, energy-saving motion sensors, LED lighting, and efficient air conditioning, McDonald's Davao Global Township is a Green & Good store. These features significantly reduce energy usage as well as the use of natural resources.
Green & Good also promotes a lifestyle that is more environmentally friendly. The Davao Global Township store attracts both new and seasoned bikers with its bike-friendly features.
