Industry Leaders Unite for the 1st Philippine Coffee Sustainability Congress

“The PCB is more than ready to forge partnerships to plant more coffee around the country.“ ~Pacita Juan

The Philippine Coffee Board (PCB) successfully held the first Philippine Coffee Sustainability Congress at the Makati Sports Club, bringing together legislators, industry executives, farmers, and company owners to discuss the country's future of sustainable coffee production.

At the historic event, coffee experts Dave Lim of the ASEAN Coffee Institute and Nishant Gurjer of Kaapi Royale (India) spoke with keynote speaker Sen. Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan about Robusta's increasing sustainability and value from a regional and global perspective. Additionally, the Congress presented the 2nd Coffee Cup of Distinction Awards to Professor Val Macanes, Princess Kumalah Sug-Elardo, and Nicholas Matti in recognition of their exceptional contributions to the Philippine coffee industry.

The event's highlights included three plenary discussions on regional coffee origins, sustainability, and government collaboration, as well as the Celebration of Plant Coffee Pilipinas and the unveiling of the new PCB symbol.  Participants learned about PCB's collaborations with the Philippine Coconut Authority, Gcash, and the Philippine Boy Scouts.  The day's activities came to a close with a cupping session that featured coffees from all throughout ASEAN.
