GCash unlocks affordable and accessible insurance for over 14 million Filipinos with GInsure

“We are humbled to be able to come to the aid of users who are looking for a more affordable and accessible way to protect themselves and their loved ones today and in the future.” ~Winsley Bangit, GCash Vice President and Head of New Business
GCash, through GInsure, brings insurance within easier reach for more Filipinos

Building financial resilience has long been thought to require insurance.  But for a lot of Filipinos, its alleged expenses frequently give the impression that only a select few can afford it.  In order to conserve money, protection against future hazards like sicknesses or frauds is sometimes neglected in favor of daily necessities.

The nation's top financial app, GCash, seeks to rectify this.  With its digital insurance platform GInsure, GCash provides simple, flexible, and cost-effective coverage on a platform that millions of users rely on to handle their everyday financial affairs.  As of Q1 2025, GInsure has enabled microinsurance for more than 14.6 million subscribers, providing more than 51.4 million policies since its start in 2021.

Affordable protection made simple

GCash helps more Filipinos develop financial resilience and get ready for a better future by emphasizing affordability.  Within the app's Marketplace, users may select from more than 48 insurance products that are customized to meet their lifestyle needs, such as health, life, travel, and more.

With only a few touches, users may also improve their security when conducting business online by utilizing well-known GCash capabilities.  For just ₱30, Express Send Scam Insurance offers 30-day personal internet security against common scams.

More recently, GInsure introduced Buy Load Plus Health Insurance, which offers consumers who buy mobile load credits through the GCash app free health and accident insurance.  Up to ₱30,000 in free health and accident insurance coverage are available to qualified users.  Users can also receive hospital income coverage of ₱500 per day for a maximum of five days if they are unable to work.  There are no extra fees or commitments associated with these advantages.

Everyday readiness through micro-insurance

Particularly in areas where communities frequently have the highest need for financial security but have limited access to standard insurance products, micro-insurance offers GCash a workable means of providing financial protection to those who have historically been under- or uninsured.

By providing simple and reasonably priced coverage via an online platform, GCash enables more clients to protect themselves against unforeseen difficulties without incurring additional costs or hassles.

Millions of Filipinos benefit from financial security as it continues to increase access to reasonably priced insurance, providing them with peace of mind and more self-assurance to handle future obstacles. For more information, please visit www.gcash.com.

How To Live Your Best Summer Ever, According To Heart Evangelista

“Summers are always so special to me. Ever since I was a kid, it’s the season I look forward to the most because summer basically meant traveling and making new memories. Japan—I love it this season. It’s also a special place that I love visiting with my husband and our kids. My sisters and I also have a lot of great memories there. I’ll start with sushi in Omotesando, then coffee in a quaint cafe in the area, followed by hours of vintage designer shopping. I’ve found so many treasures at great prices over the years—from bags, shoes, jackets, and jewelry. I’ll end the day getting lost in Don Quijote buying anik-anik, then eat snacks at a convenience store before calling it a day. I’m getting excited just thinking about it! Heart fondly recalls all the trips she’s had in Tokyo, and she has already created the perfect itinerary in the city that she wants everyone to experience. I was shopping in an airport abroad when I found a lipstick that I knew a dear friend had been looking for. It was so late already in Manila but I called her and she got so excited and asked me to buy all the stocks they had, nag-GCash na lang siya on the spot, and that was it! I tapped my GCash Card na, and the exchange rate was also really good. The GCash Card is the best way to pay abroad for me. Low forex and service fees plus no hidden charges—life-changing, really. Travel insurance is truly important—you never know what’s going to happen. A lot of people forget about this, but this is a tip I always give for a stress-free trip. Once you have insurance, you can have the best summer. Enjoy the moment when you’re finally on the trip you planned and saved up for. Remember, it’s a summer trip to make memories and milestones—take lots of photos and yes, reward yourself with good food and indulge in a bit of shopping with GCash, I’m serious! Elevated basics, understated elegance is my mood board for this summer trip. I’ll pair my neutral outfits with an interesting bag in tow—with my GCash Card inside, of course. ~Heart Evangelista, Global Fashion and Lifestyle Star

Now that summer has here, it's time for both exciting and restful trips. We could all use a few pointers to make this the best season ever, even though we all have our ideal summer bucket lists. You can rely on Heart Evangelista, a global fashion and lifestyle star, to help you have the finest summer ever. Heart, who recently debuted as the face of GCash's summer campaign, offers glimpses and anecdotes about how she intends to spend her ideal summer. Heart shares everything, including the ideal day in one of her favorite locations, her tried-and-true travel tips, and even her most recent finding on the most economical method to pay for travel.

The actress, who recently ruled the fashion weeks in Paris and Milan, says that her ideal summer vacation spot this year is not too far from home.  Heart remembers all of her visits to Tokyo with nostalgia, and she has already planned the ideal itinerary that she wants everyone to take.

We may presume that Heart has her pre-travel preparations down pat because she travels frequently, hopping on planes from Manila to wherever the world takes her.  And she does, of course.  The major stuff, like shopping and clothing, are planned out in her mind weeks before a vacation.  She will prepare outfits in advance and spend at least a day packing and organizing, including the budget for her purchases, depending on how she feels about the season.

In the recently launched GCash film starring the actress, Heart dreams up a summer trip that feels like a montage of her travels in real life. One minute, she’s shopping for a bag in Japan, and the next thing, she was ordering a meyngo shake in sunny Boracay, all with her trusty travel companion, her GCash Card.

Heart recalls a time when GCash proved its convenience even more during one of her trips. She also added that she and her team rely heavily on their GCash Card when abroad to be stress-free: “Cabs, booking cars, snacks, shopping, everything!”

Heart advises GCash users to make the most of the features and services on the app that they might be overlooking in order to have a hassle-free journey.  Although the majority of users are only familiar with the app's ease of use for sending money and paying simple bills, GCash offers a multitude of services that can save you a great deal of time and money, particularly when you're traveling.  For starters, you don't have to worry about locating money changers overseas because your GCash Card works as a debit card for convenience and can be used to withdraw cash from ATMs at favorable exchange rates.

Accelerating Inclusion: How GCash is leveling the playing field for women through responsive digital financial tools

“At GCash, we don’t just celebrate women—we invest in their success. Women are leaders, innovators, and changemakers, and their resilience drives not just our company but entire communities forward. Through our initiatives, we are creating an ecosystem where women have the tools to thrive in and beyond their careers. When women rise, we all rise. This informed our belief that empowering women leads to uplifting communities, and this is why GCash has always set out to confront the barriers and biases existing on both individual and systemic levels. Having long pursued meaningful partnerships to bring tech for good to more unbanked and underserved sectors, our experience at GCash has taught us that collaboration is the key to advancing gender equality. However, if we maintain our current pace, per the World Economic Forum, we stand to achieve full gender equality only in the year 2158. We at GCash feel the urgency now more than ever—and we know the only way we can move the needle and advance equality is if more of us work together.~Martha Sazon, President & CEO of Mynt, the holding company of GCash
GCash empowers women through financial solutions that help them thrive in the digital economy

The largest cashless ecosystem and top finance app in the Philippines, GCash, reaffirms its dedication to accelerating action and inclusion in order to promote women's economic empowerment through innovation and technology.

As part of its "Finance For All" objective, GCash keeps looking for methods to remove obstacles to inclusion, pushing beyond digital financial solutions to build a responsive digital economy that supports the success of women.

As it further committed itself to tactics that enhanced gender equality, GCash answered the call of International Women's Day (IWD) 2025, the global day recognizing women's social, economic, cultural, and political accomplishments. With its own theme, "Accelerate Action, Accelerate Inclusion," GCash celebrated Women's History Month by giving women the resources they need to make better financial decisions, invest in their future and themselves, and take charge of their money in order to become financially independent. This aligned with this year's IWD theme, "Accelerate Action."

The inclusion of women as key to nation-building
As the organization driving the National Strategy for Financial Inclusion (NSFI), GCash continues to support the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), which views financial inclusion as a means of achieving equitable and sustainable national development.

The BSP developed strategies for coordinating a nationwide approach to inclusive growth and financial resilience for all Filipinos when developing the NSFI 2022-2028 strategy in 2019.  As a result, the BSP and GCash recognized women's position as a critical metric in sectors related to the advancement and welfare of the country.

Empowerment through effective access
Account ownership is a key sign of financial inclusion, and it has been noted that lack of access to financial institutions is a fundamental systemic barrier.  Seven out of ten adult Filipinos were classified as financially excluded in the 2021 BSP Financial Inclusion Survey.  The survey also determined which sectors in the Philippines are underserved: youth, women-owned and women-led micro, small, and medium-sized companies (MSMEs), the labor sector, and the agriculture sector.

By allowing the absence of identification documents, credit histories, and other documentation frequently needed by traditional banking institutions to provide access to basic financial services, GCash has assisted in overcoming this obstacle. By using technology as a vehicle for good and democratization, the fintech pioneer has chosen to employ alternative data based on a user's digital footprint, updating and making financial solutions more accessible.

From saving and money transfers to investing and insurance, GCash makes sure that all of its products are adaptable and responsive, ready to satisfy certain requirements and customize services as needed.  This has made it possible for access to be both efficient and widely available.  Women now have access to an e-wallet and a wider financial ecosystem; five out of ten GSave users are female, and the majority of them live outside of Metro Manila. Five out of ten registered GCash users are female.

Furthermore, women now have more access to comprehensive protection. With a variety of insurance products, including coverage packages for life, health, business, auto, and more, seven out of ten GInsure consumers are women. With GInsure, GCash has revolutionized the insurance business by providing one of the lowest premiums in the Philippines, making insurance accessible and inexpensive.

A focus on women’s economic empowerment
GCash wants to develop its digital financial ecosystem and innovate more in order to promote equality and inclusion even more.  Women-led MSMEs and the development of private-public partnerships to ensure an intersectional approach are the main topics of this agenda.

More than 6.9 million Filipinos, including those from grassroots sectors (such as farmers, sari-sari store owners, and public market sellers), have already received more than PhP 186 billion in loans from GCash, which provides assistance to meet the particular difficulties encountered by women.

One method GCash levels the playing field is by offering inclusive and equitable loans that were previously unavailable to the great majority.  Six out of ten GLoan users are women, demonstrating the company's success in facilitating women's access to finance and assets. This is ascertained using GCash's proprietary credit scoring engine, GScore, which has transformed the microlending industry by using transactional behavior as a stand-in for assessing a user's creditworthiness.

Additionally, GCash makes sure that programs that support women's economic empowerment run all year long. Through the use of a multi-sectoral approach to projects, GCash works with local government entities, non-governmental organizations, educational institutions, and others to increase its influence and reach.

In order to promote gender-inclusive finance and ensure its sustainability after 2025, GCash plans to build on current accomplishments.  Maintaining its commitment to "Finance For All," GCash's future pledge is based on expediting the integration of women into underserved, vulnerable industries, guaranteeing that no one is left behind in the process of achieving financial empowerment.
