GCash, the Philippines' leading finance app and cashless ecosystem, has received international recognition after being named the country's Best Mobile Wallet for 2024 by global financial intelligence publication Pan Finance.

Pan Finance's Q1 2024 magazine recognized GCash holding company Mynt as a 'leader in mobile financial services' focused on 'accelerating financial inclusion through mobile money, financial services, and technology.'

Pan Finance highlighted two Mynt companies: G-Xchange, Inc. (GXI), GCash's mobile wallet operator, and Fuse, a tech-based lending company that provides Filipinos with personal and business loans.

Pan Finance also highlighted Mynt’s initiatives to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, namely goals #5 (gender equality), #8 (decent work and economic growth), #10 (reduced inequalities), and #13 (climate action).

This citation highlights GCash’s efforts to provide easy access to much-needed financial services to the underserved, especially to women, which make up more than half of the app’s client base. GCash is also notably close to gender parity when it comes to its total workforce, with 47% of its workforce being women – well above the global standard of 28%. GCash has also utilized innovative technologies to engage its users to tangibly contribute toward climate action through GForest.

The global financial intelligence journal said its annual Pan Finance Awards is a ‘true indicator of excellence’ as it ‘identifies organizations and individuals who have excelled in their fields.’

Pan Finance reports a readership of more than 200,000 people across 15 countries.

G to make your GCash experience safer and better with these important tips

G to make your GCash experience safer and better with these important tips

GCash is assisting its users in achieving their objectives while maintaining the app's security throughout the year 2023.

To make sure #GSafeTayo this 2023, here are important and easy-to-remember tips so users can better protect their accounts:

Tip 1: Do not click suspicious links. GCash will never send you any links through SMS, emails, and messaging apps! Be alert. Avoid clicking these links, and immediately report to Gigi on the GCash Help Center (help.gcash.com).

Tip 2: Never share your MPIN or one-time password (OTP). Scammers often pose as a GCash representative or a friend to trick you into giving your OTP. Remember that your MPIN or OTP are only for you, no one else!

Tip 3: Only do GCash-related transactions within the app. Some scammers use similar-looking phishing sites to ask customers to verify their accounts or log-in. Beware of this scamming scheme! When asked to verify or log-in, only do so on the GCash app.

Tip 4: Don't forget to register your SIM card. With the new SIM Card Registration Act in effect, make sure you have already registered with your telecommunications provider before the April 28 deadline. Also be wary of scam or spam messages posing as registration portals. Make sure you only share your personal information in the legitimate links of telecom providers.

Explore the GCash app's numerous services! GSave, GInvest, and GInsure are additional digital financial solutions that are available to help you grow your money or fund your passions in addition to the useful send and receive money features.

You are also contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions when you use the app. When you use the app's cashless services, you can participate actively in supporting reforestation efforts by collecting "green energy points" through the app's interactive GForest platform.

A virtual tree that GCash and its partners can plant on your behalf is equivalent to your green points.

Davao City embraces cashless transformation with GCash

“At the heart of everything we do at GCash is our purpose to make Filipinos' everyday lives better.” ~Martha Sazon, President and CEO of GCash
GCash Pera Outlets can now be found all over Barangay Buhangin in Davao City

Aside from being the largest city in the world, Davao City now holds the distinction of having a fast-growing digital ecosystem, thanks to GCash, the leading mobile wallet in the country.

To help ensure safe and cashless transactions in Davao City, more and more private and public sector entities are accepting payments via GCash. For instance, all the three utility companies in the city namely, the Davao City Water District, Davao Light and BP Waterworks now accept payments from consumers via Pay Bills in the GCash app. Top retail establishments like the Gaisano Mall, NCCC Group, Felcris Group, Davao City Hardware, Amesco Drugstores, and Trust Hardware also offer GCash as a payment method for their consumers.

All over the city, residents have embraced the use of GCash for everyday purchases. There are currently 1,547 formal merchants that accept payments via QR codes, more than 500 cash-in stations and a total of 3,010 informal sellers accepting payments via GCash in Davao City.  In addition, 793 public market vendors and 644 tricycle drivers in the city are also accepting payments via GCash. With these numbers, both the entrepreneurs and consumers in Davao City have access to safe and convenient payment methods.

According to Martha Sazon, president and CEO of GCash, innovative thinking and a strong commitment to the communities of GCash partners are keys to achieving financial inclusivity in communities like Davao City.

To recognize the efforts of government agencies and enterprises for embracing digital financial solutions for the benefit of their constituents and customers, GCash held the GCash Digital Excellence Awards. During the first run for Public Sector achievers in December 2021, the Davao City Water District received  the “Excellence in Digital Ecosystem Innovation Award.”

“With the help of GCash, the Davao City Water District has made water bill payments safe and convenient for our customers. This also supported the city’s campaign for residents to stay at home and stay safe. We look forward to more years of partnership with GCash as we continue to improve our services in Davao City.” ~Eduardo Bangayan, Chairman of Davao City Water District

In April 2022,  GCash bestowed the “Industry Pioneer” award to the NCCC Group of Companies during the awards night for enterprise and MSME partners.

“We continue to create innovative ways to provide our customers with a safe and convenient shopping experience. Through our partnership with GCash which started in 2017, we were able to embrace the digital transformation phase to serve patrons from Davao City, Davao del Norte and eventually in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.” ~Lafayette Lim, CEO of NCCC Group of Companies

Aside from Davaoeños being able to pay their fees on utilities like water through the pay bills feature, they can also maximize other services such as send money, buy load and bank transfer. GCash also offers its users easy access flexible payment options via credit line with GCredit, shop now pay later with GGives, COVID-19 health insurance for as low as P39 a month via GInsure, a savings account with GSave, investment starting at only P50 in a market fund with GInvest, and a one stop online shop for essentials, food and more on GLife.

By establishing partnerships with the public and private sectors in Davao City, GCash is enabling Davaoeños to have access to safe and secure digital financial services as part of its vision of financial inclusion for all.

InLife and GCash Partnership Raises Women’s Role in the Digital Economy

“Our partnership with GCash, the largest FinTech platform in the country, is the latest and, by far, the widest net we are casting in our financial inclusion agenda for women. GCash breaks the barriers for the millions of the unbanked to avail themselves of financial services and health solutions at the most convenient and safe way. The Covid-19 pandemic has shifted the attitudes and behavior favorably toward getting adequate healthcare and insurance coverage. And data shows that it is the women who are active seekers not necessarily for themselves, but for their husbands, children, or parents. Our partnership with GCash, the largest FinTech platform in the country, is the latest and, by far, the widest net we are casting in our financial inclusion agenda for women. GCash breaks the barriers for the millions of the unbanked to avail themselves of financial services and health solutions at the most convenient and safe way. It is our hope that millions of Filipinos will enjoy peace of mind knowing that they have life and health insurance coverage for themselves and their loved available through GCash.” ~Nina D. Empowering Women Through Financial Inclusion

“This has allowed them access to relevant products ranging from life insurance to health care coverage through InLife and InLife Health Care, respectively. We are providing more Filipinos access to get covered more quickly and conveniently, giving them and their loved ones peace of mind. This is another step forward in our pursuit of financial inclusion – where we strive to make financial services more accessible to all Filipinos, especially for the unbanked and underbanked. Through our app, they now have access to digital financial services – even as the banking penetration remains low. Usage of our app is at an all-time high, as people now think of GCash as a digital life hack and more than just an e-wallet.” ~Martha Sazon, GCash President and CEO

Inspired by the Sheroes Movement

While tech is not usually a field women are associated with, our team at GCash is proof that it can happen – with women making up around half of our employee base.” ~Noemi G.
