Watsons Joins Forces with Customers to Offset 4,000 Tons of CO2 to Fight Against Climate Change

To strengthen its carbon compensation program, AS Watson's main health and beauty brand, Watsons, announced an extended cooperation with ClimatePartner on Earth Day. Our goal is to offset more than 4,000 tons of CO2 emissions with each purchase of specific Watsons Sustainable Choice products.


Inspiring Customers to Choose Wisely, Live Sustainably

In 2023, Watsons and ClimatePartner started their carbon compensation program, which initially featured seven product categories, in response to the increased consumer demand for Sustainable Choices products.  Our unshakable commitment to sustainability is being further advanced by this endeavor, which is now growing to embrace 30 product types.  Watsons O+O (online and offline) stores in Hong Kong, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, Turkey, and the GCC regions are the first to begin the program.




Watsons is dedicated to providing more environmentally friendly items and making sure that each purchase has a significant and positive influence.  Watsons is concentrating on important afforestation in Dingxi, Mainland China, an area impacted by desertification, droughts, and severe soil erosion, in addition to current reforestation work in Rimba Raya, Indonesia.  This effort involves planting native tree species, selected for their resistance in semi-arid conditions, with the goal of restoring degraded cropland into healthy forests.

In addition to its positive effects on the environment, the project empowers local communities and promotes gender equity by giving locals job opportunities in tree planting and forest care, many of which are held by women.

Since its launch, the initiative has been well-received by customers and has garnered positive feedback.

Through its Go Green Living initiatives, which actively involve staff in practical environmental action, Watsons in the Philippines not only empowers customers but also helps the global sustainability movement.  In order to avoid marine pollution and preserve biodiversity, Watsons Philippines has planted more than 5,800 trees during eco-tours and gathered more than 30 bags of rubbish and scrap wood during international coastal cleanups.  These regional initiatives show how Watsons additionally supports climate change through employee-led, community-driven initiatives that mirror the company's larger environmental commitment.

One of the most important ways to fight climate change and protect the biodiversity that supports us all is to encourage consumers to purchase Sustainable Choices goods. By working together, we can shape a more promising and environmentally friendly future for future generations.
