“By combining the strength of our RCM and healthcare expertise with Microsoft’s advanced large language models, we are unlocking new efficiencies, previously considered by the market as too complex to automate. We are bringing scalable, tech-enabled services without requiring healthcare leaders to take on large, risky technology investments, freeing them up to focus on what matters most – delivering exceptional patient care. The possibilities are endless as we continue building new AI-powered capabilities across the healthcare ecosystem in collaboration with Microsoft and our customers. We are thrilled to be a pioneer in driving RCM transformation. Our customers are already experiencing the benefits of generative and agentic AI and are excited about future developments as we work together and continue to innovate.” ~Anurag Mehta, CEO and Co-Founder, Omega Healthcare
In order to further improve its sophisticated AI capabilities throughout the revenue cycle, Omega Healthcare, a top supplier of technology-enabled RCM services, announced an extended partnership with Microsoft. Omega Healthcare introduced more than 20 generative and agentic AI solutions to help healthcare organizations improve revenue cycle operations and financial performance by integrating Microsoft Azure's state-of-the-art AI models through Azure AI Foundry with the company's proprietary Omega Digital Platform (ODP).
Since partnering with Microsoft in 2023, Omega Healthcare has quickly implemented these solutions, utilizing intelligent automation within its ODP framework to assist healthcare organizations in automating intricate processes like call center support, appeal filing, correspondence processing, and denial management—all while improving accuracy, compliance, and profitability for its clients.
“Omega Healthcare is one of the most innovative partners we’ve worked with in applying Microsoft Azure AI Foundry capabilities – including Azure OpenAI in Foundry Models – to revenue cycle management and other real-world healthcare challenges. Their ability to translate AI innovation into practical, high-impact solutions across the entire revenue cycle and beyond, has positioned them as a clear leader in tech-enabled RCM transformation.” ~Elena Bonfiglioli, General Manager, Worldwide Healthcare at Microsoft
The AI solutions support the whole revenue cycle, including patient access, mid-cycle operations, and back-end procedures, by integrating Microsoft Azure's intelligent automation engines smoothly throughout the ODP. These modules integrate with ODP's AI/ML models to support critical services for clients, including clinical documentation improvement (CDI), denials management, and prevention, and combine cutting-edge AI models in Azure AI Foundry with Omega Healthcare's extensive domain expertise to automate repetitive tasks, like medical coding. For instance, normal rejection procedures, proof collection, and appeal submission are just a few of the revenue cycle duties that ODP may automate. Improved compliance, quicker resolution times, and a 75% decrease in AR follow-up days are some of the main results.
Omega Healthcare has also implemented solutions for domains such as data curation for life sciences and introduced new solutions for payers, opening up new possibilities for retrospective HCC coding automation.
According to a new Everest Group Survey, which highlights the extra possibilities for AI innovation in healthcare, the vast majority of senior healthcare executives (85%) asked think AI will increase RCM operations' efficiencies over the next five years.
