Shop for a Cause: 8 Homegrown Social Enterprises to Support in BGC

Bayanihan has never been more apparent in this time of the pandemic. With small businesses and social enterprises popping up here and there, we are given all the more reason and opportunity to support local and try out buying from our fellow Filipinos. In line with BGC’s continued support for local communities, many different homegrown social enterprises have become part of Project Buyanihan. 

This passion project is in partnership with Fort Bonifacio Development Foundation (FBDFI) which aims to offer FREE retail spaces for selected social enterprises along Bonifacio High Street. Who would’ve thought shopping could be this meaningful? By supporting these social enterprises, we get to be aware of their advocacies and make it well-known to many. This does not only benefit the #BGCitizens but this also reinforces a greater social impact on the causes that these businesses are founded on essentially.

The current pandemic has affected many businesses as the shutdowns swept the country, but it also opened up the door for them to explore new markets. Some are even launching at breakneck speed like the brands under Project Buyanihan in BGC!

In partnership with the Fort Bonifacio Development Foundation (FBDFI), Buyanihan is a passion project which offers free retail spaces for selected social enterprises along Bonifacio High Street. Eight social enterprises participated and will be back as soon as the quarantine protocols permit.

• 1. Fresh market goods from Benguet Collective Producers

The first one, Benguet Collective Producers, allows the community to shop all sorts of market goods fresh from Benguet. Benguet Farmers Collective is composed of upland farmers from Sablan whose livelihoods were affected during the pandemic. With the community’s support every weekend, the partner farmers shared how the project enabled them to send their kids to school and provide for their families.

• 2. Curated and handwoven finds from Mask For A Cause PH

Another one is Mask For A Cause PH which supports women weavers all around the country by providing additional income opportunities. They curate and promote Filipino handwoven masks and other cultural products from various ethnic communities in the Philippines like Iloilo, Zamboanga, and more. Each item, design, markings and symbols from their masks and other collections are unique and one of a kind. In just one weekend in BGC, they were able to surpass their regular month’s sales and further strengthen the support for local weavers.

• 3. Cultural and unique items from Abra Indigo Manila

With a vision of addressing the cultural disconnect we have with our cultural heritage, Abra Indigo Manila is an all-Filipino social enterprise showcasing local and indigenous cultures through various products like face masks, accessories, apparel, and home essentials.

• 4. Made for Pinoys skincare from Diwatang Maria 

Diwatang Maria, on the other hand, is a skincare brand that aims to address the need of Pinoys when it comes to skincare. They produce only organic and natural products using plant derivatives to help local communities. Each variant serves as a declaration of Filipino ingenuity as they promote the brave, compassionate, and fearless stories of Diwatas Filipinos grew up to.

• 5. Farm fresh produce with SANFA

You can also find a group of farmers from San Antonio, Quezon, who bring lowland crops and produce. San Antonio Natural Farmers (SANFA) work towards making agriculture a profitable and sustainable endeavor for the community.

• 6. Must have finds made by former inmates

Many people lost their jobs during the pandemic, and finding a source of income is even more difficult for former inmates. BJMP’s Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) Livelihood Program aims to provide livelihood projects to past offenders by training them with skills, which do not only help provide them with sustainable earnings for their families, but can also aid them in making their reintegration to society a bit easier. This includes crafting mandala pots made of clay, stylish bayong bags, lampshades, and even acrylic paintings. 

• 7. Satisfy Taho cravings with Bacoor Collective Producers

With stricter community quarantine protocols, taho producers and vendors are not allowed to roam around the village streets. Bacoor Collective Producers, through Project Buyanihan, has found a new market where they can also sell other soy products. 

• 8. Organic Plantito / Plantita needs by Homegrown Harvest

Last but not the least, Homegrown Harvest, makes it easy for everyone to grow their own food at home while helping a local community. They offer pre-planted containers, raised beds, and even monthly maintenance check-ins and other services.

This is just the start of BGC’s venture towards helping local communities. These products are not only supported by #BGCitizens, but because their advocacies are being known by many, it helps expand their reach and achieve a more significant social impact.

BGC enhances connectivity and active transport through sustainable PMD solutions

Bonifacio Global City, being a PMD-friendly city, has been a firm believer of bringing last-mile connectivity solutions to BGCitizens. Recently, they have taken further steps to ensure that residents, employees, and even visitors (APORs) can traverse within the city with ease and security.

Given limited transportation options, BGC, in close partnership with Moovr PH, has installed the first ten of its bike repair kits in key areas of the city to aid in enabling active transport during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ). 

Moreover, eight additional bike and e-scooter hubs from Moovr PH were also put in place in BGC. Key areas include 5th Avenue, Rizal Drive, Bonifacio High Street Central Parking, and North Bonifacio. With more hubs on its way to complete the connectivity story of BGC’s 240-hectare expanse.

With these efforts, BGC aims to create a safer and more conducive mobility option for its BGCitizens and guests. BGC Celebrates Valentines with the First-Ever Drive-in Concert in the Metro

Live music returns to BGC with a cool, new twist. 

As we near our first Valentine's in these unusual times, why don't we just take the time to celebrate the love that's all around us, in all its shapes and forms? 

The season of love is upon us and as we usher in our first Valentine’s during these unusual times, why don’t we put the spotlight on the many ways we can define and celebrate love? The past year may not have been what any of us expected, but it sure taught us to appreciate the love that is all around us. As we all continue to move forward, we learned how much love is already in our lives—whether it be self-love, or that for our family and friends, our partner, or even love for nature and all its beings. It’s everywhere, in everything. This year, Bonifacio Global City celebrates love in all its shapes and forms with an exciting lineup of activities where you can spark joy with fresh, intimate, and safe experiences designed for our new reality. On February 13, prepare to be serenaded by OPM powerhouse talents: KZ Tandingan and Rico Blanco as BGC, in partnership with Globe, host Love Street: The Metro's first drive-in concert happening at the 30th Street Open Carpark, BGC Corporate Center. 

Apart from this, you can also enjoy a delectable meal from any of your favorite Bonifacio High Street restaurants while being surrounded by lush plants, greens, and flowers as they turn their amphitheater into a free-for-all alfresco dining area from February 13 to 14, 2021. And on Valentine's day, make sure to secure a spot to get the best view and watch as the sky lights up with a pyromusical show you wouldn't want to miss! 

Love Street: A Valentine Drive-in Concert

If you miss live music as much as we do, get ready for a different kind of concert-watching experience in the metro as the 30th Street Open Carpark, BGC Corporate Center turns into a big concert ground with the first-ever drive-in concert. Think vibrant lights, a cool stage with giant LED screens, and heartfelt live performances from two of OPM’s powerhouse talents: Rico Blanco and KZ Tandingan—all enjoyed from the safety and comfort of your car. What’s more to love?

You don’t even have to worry about food as some delicious restaurant booths will be available for you to call and order for delivery. QR codes with menus will be provided upon entrance. 

Everyone is invited but expect the tickets to go fast. You can exchange your Php 2,500 worth of receipts (single or accumulated) from participating Bonifacio High Street establishments at One Bonifacio High Street’s concierge booth, but make sure you get there on time as there will only be limited slots available on a first-come, first-served basis. But do keep in mind that only 4 persons per car will be allowed. 

In partnership with Globe, the metro’s first drive-in concert is happening on February 13, 2021, at 6:00 PM. You can also tune in to Q Radio 105.1 to hear the concert audio in real-time or stream it live through BGC’s official FB page. Nothing beats the feeling of a live show with someone you love, so you better not miss this one!

Garden StrEAT: A Fresh Outdoor Dining Experience 

If you find yourself bogged down by a mundane daily routine, take time to be present and enjoy a delectable meal surrounded by lush plants, greens, and flowers. In partnership with HoritFilipina, a free-for-all alfresco dining area will be made available at Bonifacio High Street’s amphitheater from February 13 - 14, 2021. Imagine chowing down on some mouth-watering flavors from your favorite Bonifacio High Street restaurants while you enjoy the cool, city breeze. Guests can order take-away from any BHS restaurant or scan the QR codes available to order and arrange for pickup or delivery. It’s simply a refreshing experience and a thoughtful treat to your loved ones too!

Love in the Sky: A Valentine’s Fireworks Display

There's something magical about watching a pyromusical display that incites a lot of oohs and ahhs. So whether you’re single, coupled up, or somewhere in between, the colorful flares bursting will surely dazzle your Valentine’s day plans! If you want the best seat for the show, settle in and find a sweet spot in one of Bonifacio High Street’s alfresco restaurants or stay at the extended dining nooks set up at 5th Avenue, Bonifacio High Street. We’re making it extra romantic as some parts of the street will be closed specially for a refreshing, open-air dining experience under the stars. The fireworks show is happening on Feb 14, 2021, at 7 PM.

You can now use Philippines' first ever bike and e-scooter sharing platform in Bonifacio Global City!

Bonifacio Global City in close partnership with Moovr PH, the first ever bike and e-scooter sharing platform powered by Keepr Storage PH continues to provide easy and sustainable mobility for Filipinos wanting to beat the city traffic. Bikes and e-scooters are already available for use starting this January 2021! 

As part of BGC’s last mile connectivity solution, this partnership with Moovr PH can help BGCitizens to  easily traverse within the city in the comfort and safety of Personal Mobility Device (PMD) network situated around BGC. These dedicated lanes provide connected safe routes which residents and employees can enjoy to get to their offices and move around the city.

Personal Mobility Devices That Promote Safe Outdoor Leisure and Sustainability

Moovr PH is the Philippines‘ first ever PMD-sharing mobile application for Filipinos who wish to engage in leisurely outdoor activities while practicing safe, physical-distancing. The app empowers the public with immediate and 24-hour access to personal mobility devices (PMD) that come in two options: a single gear bike and an easy-to-use electric scooter built for safe and comfortable rides in-and-around BGC. The whole fleet of bikes and e-scooters will be regularly disinfected and sanitized, and can be accessed through Moovr Hubs that are within walking distance in strategic locations in Bonifacio Global City.

Aside from safety, Moovr PH also practices sustainability by promoting the use of their bikes and e- scooters which produce only 1% of the carbon released by standard cars. With the objective of serving as a last mile commute within BGC and looking to extend to more locations in the Metro — something many Filipinos will benefit from.

Bringing last-mile solutions to the Philippines, Moovr PH uses the same technology and user-friendly platform as those used in Europe, the US, and Canada. The application is now available for download on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. 

How Does Moovr PH Work?

1. Create an Account

Download the Moovr PH app on your mobile device and follow the form to create an account through e-mail, Facebook, or Google.

2. Find Your Ride

Once your profile is activated, simply find your ride by walking to the nearest Moovr Hub in BGC. Don’t forget to have your personal helmet ready!

3. Travel to Destination

Upon reaching the Moovr Hub, select your vehicle and unlock it by scanning the QR code to start riding. Vehicles can be rented for a maximum of 24 hours and e-scooters must be returned if the battery is below 15%. Remember to drive only on the designated lanes and obey the traffic laws of BGC.

The Moovr Hub will direct you to the nearest designated parking area closest to your destination between rides.

4. End in a Moovr Hub

Once your journey is complete, simply park and lock your bike in the nearest Moovr Hub in their designated spots in BGC and end the ride on your app.

Moovr PH: Mobility for Every Juan

Moovr provides easy and sustainable mobility for Filipinos living and working in Bonifacio Global City. Rates for use of the bikes start for as low as PHP 15 for every 15 minutes, or any fraction thereof. While the standard rate for e-scooters is PHP 50 for every 20 minutes, or any fraction thereof. Payments are also cashless, users can top up their Moovr credits through online transactions using their credit or debit cards.

Bonifacio High Street recognized as one of the most bike-friendly commercial establishments in NCR

Our favorite place just got recognized as one of the Most Bicycle Friendly Commercial Establishments in the first-ever Mobility Awards!  Recognizing BGC’s efforts in maintaining a bike-friendly city, Bonifacio High Street was recently awarded as one of the “Most Bike-Friendly Commercial Establishments (Silver)” in the first-ever Mobility Awards. The Mobility Awards was launched last September 2020 by the Institute for Climate and Sustainable Cities, MNL Move, The Climate Reality Project Philippines, and 350 Pilipinas.

In keeping with the promise of providing new normal solutions and becoming a Personal Mobility Device (PMD) friendly community, BGC has taken further steps to ensure that BGCitizens can easily ride their way within its confines, extending its existing 9.5km bike lanes with another 3.65km covering 26th street, 29th street, 1st ave, 2nd ave, and Burgos Circle.

 

Aside from that, BGC has also deployed new bike racks in twenty different locations within the city.

Spend your weekend at the biggest Passion Playground in BGC Passionfest!

Get ready for a weekend filled with fun and festivities as Bonifacio Global City once again celebrates Passionfest, their annual city fiesta on November 30 - December 1, 2019! 

This year’s Passionfest takes inspiration from the four elements of the earth — water, fire, wind, and nature. So, head on over to Bonifacio High Street to enjoy different workshops, bazaars, and performances that will definitely ignite a spark of passion in everyone! Plus, catch great performances from Sarah Geronimo, St. Wolf, and The Juans in a concert in partnership with Coke Studio!

Everyone has a story to tell — our own motivations, experiences, and purpose. To celebrate the best in each of us, Bonifacio Global City has lined up a series of events for this year’s “BGC Passionfest”, a celebration that lets BGCitizens share their passions in unique and interactive ways. 

Passionfest is BGC’s yearly city fiesta that happens every Bonifacio Day weekend, which means there’s something for people to look forward to on November 30 to December 1, 2019! Inspired by the four elements of the earth—fire, wind, nature, and water—this year’s Passionfest aims to let BGCitizens create and share their stories and passions in a series of exciting and engaging events.

To kick off the celebrations, the whole stretch of Bonifacio High Street will be transformed into one great Passion Playground, subdivided into blocks corresponding to each of the four elements. Within each zone are fun activities, workshops, and performances that can be enjoyed throughout the day. 

Wander in the waters of Fountain Fields and immerse yourself in activities like the water-themed show by The Mind Museum, contemporary dance on canvas, together with an amazing lineup of goodies from the Katipunan Weekend Market. Fly through the skies in Air Avenue, with an entertaining bubble show, jazz music serenade by Ian Jacinto, plus an exciting lineup of bazaars. Behold all the fiery lights in Bright Boulevard, where you can enjoy performances from LED poi dancers, plus scrumptious and fiery food from the Gourmand Market. Experience everything blooming and growing at Nature Lane, while enjoying a morning with free succulent workshops, daily performances from Banda Kawayan, and a fresh ranch by Del Monte Philippines!

Headlining the festivities on November 30 is the comeback of the much-loved Run BGC with Run Rio at 5th Avenue. For even more action, consumers can join the first-ever Palarong Pinoy, a series of popular Filipino games that will pit companies and BGCitizens together in a fun and friendly competition.

BGC Passionfest 2019 will surely end with a bang as BGC, in partnership with Coke Studio, brings together Sarah Geronimo, St. Wolf, and The Juans in a grand concert at the Amphitheater on December 1, 2019.
