“Pru Life UK has always been supportive of education and we recognise its role in realising our sustainability target of building resilient communities. Through the Adopt-a-Madrasah programme, we aim to provide practical support to help madaris’ students and teachers access better learning opportunities.” ~Paul Mandal, Pru Life UK's Chief Legal and Sustainability Officer
In partnership with its advocacy partners, Humble Sustainability and LiteHaus International, Pru Life UK, the first life insurer in the Philippines to obtain a Takaful license, is demonstrating its dedication to inclusive education and sustainable community development by donating digital learning tools to three community madaris, or Islamic schools, in Bangkal, Davao City.
Laptops, projectors, and white screens were distributed to students, instructors, school administrators, and local community leaders from Darul Khair Islamic Center, Maahad Talomo Al-Islamie, and Al Madrasah Al-Arabia Wal-Islamiyah during a turnover event at Ummoul Khair Maahad.
This contribution supports Pru Life UK's community investment initiatives in Mindanao through its Adopt-a-Madrasah program, which was introduced in Davao in 2024. The Madaris' educational demands are met by the program.
Pru Life UK's engagement with circular economy start-up Humble Sustainability, which sold the insurer's leftover IT equipment—including outdated devices donated by staff members—through its network, helped to partially pay the donation. The donated equipment, which included remanufactured PCs, was sourced via LiteHaus International, an NGO and advocate for digital fairness.
Since the program's inception, more than 450 teachers and pupils have benefited from the distribution of school supplies, hygiene kits, and an innovative session led by agent volunteers and Pru Life UK staff. These initiatives are carried out in collaboration with government partners and leaders of the local Muslim community. Pru Life UK underlines its goal to be a dependable partner and guardian for generations, improving lives via sustainable development, education, and empowerment through Adopt-a-Madrasah.
