Magic: The Gathering—FINAL FANTASY

Wizards of the Coast revealed new cards contributed by Toshiyuki Itahana and Toshitaka Matsuda.

Some of the cards from the upcoming set Magic: The Gathering—FINAL FANTASY from the Universes Beyond series, which is set for release on Friday, June 13, 2025, have been revealed by Wizards of the Coast (Renton, Washington, USA), a global game creative company that develops and markets Magic: The Gathering, the first strategic trading card game in history with over 50 million players and fans worldwide.

Two weekends (June 21 and 22 for the Philippines, June 14 and 15 for Singapore and Thailand) will feature special celebrations for gamers in those countries.  Experienced players can take advantage of sessions that include commander and sealed events, while new players can attend Learn-to-Play sessions to get a feel for the Magic universe.

From June 13 to July 24, players from selected SEA countries (Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines) can participate in Chocobo Racing Events and stand to win AR pins, posters and exclusive metal tokens. 

About the New Set Magic: The Gathering — FINAL FANTASY

This set features the largest collection of artwork from the FINAL FANTASY series ever seen in a single game. The artists of Magic have come together to vividly depict iconic moments from the FINAL FANTASY series, each in their own unique style. Additionally, familiar artwork from the FINAL FANTASY series will appear as memorable cards.

Renowned artists have always supported the FINAL FANTASY series, and they have created fresh artwork for the exclusive Borderless FINAL FANTASY Artist cards for Magic: The Gathering — FINAL FANTASY.

 Each guest artist has a carefully chosen card from the main set in this card style, and they have each contributed their own style and original pictures to these cards.  Toshiyuki Itahana's "Vivi Ornitier" and Toshitaka Matsuda's "Kain, Traitorous Dragoon" are the two recently unveiled cards.  Fans should not miss either of these unique cards, which you should showcase as artwork.

Iconic FINAL FANTASY Characters Featured on Cards!

Two beloved characters from the FINAL FANTASY series have been illustrated on Magic cards: 《Choco, Seeker of Paradise》, and 《Moogles’ Valor》, showcasing Chocobos and Moogles who have been adored throughout the series. 

The water-elemental summon Leviathan makes its debut as 《Summon: Leviathan》 in Magic history's first-ever card type, "Saga Creature”. Its immense power is expected to wipe the board with a devastating tsunami.

Some of the most iconic and memorable scenes from the FINAL FANTASY series appear on the FINAL FANTASY Through the Ages Cards in Magic: The Gathering — FINAL FANTASY. This is a true "dream collaboration," where players' memories and their card game experience come together.

Cast your Spells in Special Celebratory Events

Wizards and its key partners will jointly host celebratory events in public malls in Singapore, Thailand and Philippines. They will be held across two weekends in June, in conjunction with the set launch. 

Play and Win – Chocobo Racing Events

Chocobo AR Pin and Poster

Chocobo Racing Events are Draft and Sealed events based on the FINAL FANTASY VII mini-game "Chocobo Racing". Players will earn points that accumulate with each new event they participate in, bringing them closer to the rewards each time they play. Players can win an exclusive Chocobo Racing Event Series poster and Pinfinity AR pins when they play either Chocobo Racing Draft or Sealed events at participating Southeast Asia WPN stores. The events will be held from June 13 to July 24. 

Metal Tokens

In addition, players who play Chocobo Racing Sealed Events can also win exclusive metal tokens. Three card designs are available to be won.
