Panda Express is debuting another Popular Entree, Mongolian Pork this Mother’s Day

The new Mongolian Pork entrée features a savory, umami flavor profile -combining a hint of sweetness from the caramelized onions, scallions, red peppers, and mushrooms with the smokiness of the seared pork.

Panda Express is debuting another popular entree, Mongolian Pork, which is the first pork entrée on its Philippines menu! The new Mongolian Pork entrée features a savory, umami flavor profile -combining a hint of sweetness from the caramelized onions, scallions, red peppers, and mushrooms with the smokiness of the seared pork.

Celebrate this Mother’s Day with a gift of love and flavor from Panda Express! Launching on May 9th, Panda Express is debuting another popular entree, Mongolian Pork, which is the first pork entrée on its Philippines menu.

The Mongolian Pork is made with tender pork shoulder and crisp vegetables, wok-tossed in a savory ginger and garlic sauce.

This entrée is traditionally made with pork, stir-fried with white and green onions, but Panda Express deepened the layers of flavors by adding bell peppers and mushrooms, making it uniquely American Chinese.

The chefs’ technique of mastering heat, flame, and the wok brings out the “Wok Hei,” or “breath of the wok,” which creates a smoky, umami flavor in the dish.

The complex flavors of this entrée are done through the layering of ingredients: first, the aromatics as the flavor base; second, the pork that is seared perfectly to lock in the juiciness; third, the freshly-cut vegetables are cooked to bring out a sweet caramelization and finished with ginger and garlic soy sauce.

Pair this delicious dish with the famous Orange™ Chicken—Panda’s signature crispy chicken dish wok-tossed in a sweet and spicy orange sauce, or choose the award-winning Honey Walnut Shrimp which is made with large tempura-battered shrimp tossed in a honey sauce and topped with glazed walnuts. Complete the plate with Panda’s delicious Chow Mein, a stir-fried noodle dish with onions, celery, and cabbage.

Panda’s Mongolian Pork is available at participating locations (Megamall and North EDSA) for dine-in and take-out. It is also available for delivery via GrabFood and foodpanda

BPI Sinag Spark 2021 aims to nurture, develop, and empower the local social enterprise (SE) sector

“We live in a vast and complicated world and it needs our cooperation and commitment to do all we can to ensure a better and brighter tomorrow for future generations. As part of our commitment, we aim to shed light and give hope – give a Spark to our struggling social enterprises (SEs) who, despite the pandemic, continue to pledge their cooperation by focusing not just on profit, but also on people and the planet. We will be publishing our second BPI Sinag Book later this year to document and share more of the best practices and inspiring stories of growth from the BPI Sinag community members. We will also be working on a National SE Strategy Paper to engage the public sector in supporting the development of social entrepreneurship across the country.~Owen Cammayo, BPI Foundation Executive Director

Have you noticed that most of the businesses and establishments had gone closed, a lot went thru online to sell their products and services during the ongoing lockdown? BPI Foundation, the social development arm of the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), today launched its 7-year running business challenge called “Sinag Spark 2021”, part of the BPI Sinag program that aims to nurture, develop, and empower the local social enterprise (SE) sector.

A program under Enterprise Development and Livelihood, BPI Foundation’s SINAG empowers Social Entrepreneurs (SEs) in uplifting Filipino communities and scaling their businesses by addressing the triple-bottom-line (people, planet, and profit) through opportunities for technological, social, and market innovations.

This 2021, BPI Sinag is again on the lookout for Social Entrepreneurs that uplift Filipino communities and address the triple-bottom-line of 𝐏𝐄𝐎𝐏𝐋𝐄, 𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐄𝐓, & 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐅𝐈𝐓. Recognizing that businesses continue to experience dark and difficult times. 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐠 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐤 represents light and hope for progress as Social Enterprises struggle to bounce back from the pandemic. The program aims to spark the 𝒃𝒂𝒚𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒉𝒂𝒏 spirit among stakeholders towards harnessing the resilience and capabilities of SEs to deliver both social and economic impact in this changing landscape.

Building a national network of bonafide Social Enterprises. 𝐑𝐄𝐓𝐎𝐎𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆 for resilience to cope with the ongoing pandemic. 𝐑𝐄𝐈𝐍𝐕𝐈𝐆𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐍𝐆 the business ecosystem to create an enabling environment for social entrepreneurship. A collaborative approach with like-minded organizations to strengthen support for Social Entrepreneurship.

The following are the key activities that will be implemented under the program:
  1. SE Registry
  2. Boot Camps for SEs and Educators (training and mentoring)
  3. Case Study Development and Publication
  4. National SE Strategy Proposal
  5. Virtual Conference on Social Entrepreneurship
  6. Awarding of Grants to Winners
  7. Expanding Networks

The BPI Sinag program was introduced in 2015. While it was initially conceived as a business challenge for SEs, it has now evolved into a growing ecosystem (over 180 SEs) that continues to bring together not just the country’s visionary entrepreneurs, but also mentors, investors, and other stakeholders who share the same goal of achieving inclusive and sustainable growth through social entrepreneurship.

This year, the program continues its partnerships with social impact organizations such as Bayan Academy for Social Entrepreneurship and Human Resource Development, Endeavor Philippines, Start-Up Village, and Villgro Philippines, and BPI Direct BanKo, the microfinance arm of BPI. For the first time since its conception, BPI Sinag has also partnered with Ayala Land, a subsidiary of Ayala Corporation, to help expand the market access of SEs.

In the “𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐠 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐤” business challenge, 40 SEs will be included in the shortlist, of which, 20 will move on to the finals. Out of the Top 20, 10 social enterprises who are best able to showcase their business viability and social impact will be named the BPI Sinag Spark awardees. Aside from exclusive mentorship opportunities, the awardees will also receive cash grants amounting to P300,000 for the top five SEs and P100,000 for the rest.

Foundation will provide Sinag SEs with an MBA-like experience through virtual mentoring sessions, which will include sessions on business strategy and planning, marketing, operations, finance, organization & HR development, and social innovation, among others.

New resources, opportunities
According to Mr. Cammayo, the publication of a book on social entrepreneurship is among the many exciting activities and initiatives lined up for this year’s BPI Sinag program.

With the help of BPI Sinag’s program partners, the collection of case studies and impact assessments on social enterprises will serve as the primary sources for crafting a national strategy for social enterprise development in the Philippines.

Open for applications
BPI Sinag Spark is open to social entrepreneurs who are 18 years old and above and leading a registered social enterprise that has been operating for at least six months. Interested applicants may check the complete eligibility requirements via https://www.bpifoundation.org/page/bpi-sinag. The application period will run until July 6, 2021.

It is the goal of BPI Foundation to become the thought leader of social entrepreneurship in the country. To know more about BPI Foundation and its programs, visit www.bpifoundation.org.

McDonald’s reveals the greatest gift a mom can get in their newest ad

“McDonald’s has always been about ‘simple, feel-good moments’. We hold that true in whatever we do and offer. In these extraordinary times, we wish that all the more for all the moms who work so hard to take care of their families. So this Mother’s Day, we released a video to show just how easy and simple it is to give moms the gift they need the most: tulog na mahimbing. We hope we all remember that sometimes, it's the simplest things that can make one the happiest.” ~Oliver Rabatan, McDonald’s Philippines Marketing & Channels Head

This Mother’s Day, McDonald’s celebrates the moms who tirelessly give their all just so their children have a happy life and a happy home. With the world closing down and our lives revolving around the four corners of our homes, it has become all the more evident how hard our moms work to meet all our needs and give us a life of comfort. From daily housekeeping jobs of cleaning and cooking to managing businesses or working a full-time job, helping children transition to blended learning, and finding meaningful ways to bring happiness to homes; moms have continuously put their families’ needs over theirs.
So this Mother’s Day, McDonald’s celebrates the moms who tirelessly give their all just so their children have a happy life and a happy home. Through the launch of their new online video ‘Himbing.’

Through the launch of their new online video ‘Himbing’, McDonald’s makes us realize that celebrating moms doesn’t always have to come in grand gestures and luxury gifts. Sometimes, the best way to pay tribute to her is to give her what she needs the most— a break from everything to rest and relax, even just for a day. This, alongside hundreds of Filipinos who have expressed heartwarming relatability to the video, sheds light on the idea that giving our moms time to just slow down and breathe is truly one of the most valuable gifts we can give her.

Show your love and appreciation for mom by giving her the gift of a well-deserved break and a treat to her McDonald’s favorites.
